Propelling.-The carrier b of planet pinions d, driven from a sun wheel c on the crank shaft of a radial-cylinder aircraft engine, carries or constitutes the hub of the propeller and is provided with a flange f carrying the valve cams h. In the example described, the propeller and cams are arranged to rotate at one-fourth the speed of the crank shaft, there being two cam projections at 180‹ apart.
