Abstract
A cover for a cellular headset is so shaped as to be mounted over the headset for protecting an activation button of the headset from inadvertent or unintended operation. The cover includes a slot on one side of the cover for attaching the cover to the headset by inserting the earhook of the headset in the slot. The headset may use the Bluetooth (RTM) protocol.

Cover for wireless device
The present invention relates to a cover for a cellular headset, such as that marketed under the name "Bluetooth" manufactured by Motorola, Inc.
The invention refers to presently in use wireless headsets. This type of headset includes a transmitter/receiver connected to a cellular phone by low power wireless, using, for example, the Bluetooth wireless technology.
An earhook holds it attached to the user's ear.
A problem with these devices, for example the Bluetooth headset manufactured by Motorola Inc., is that they may be accidentally activated. The user may be unaware that the device is active, thus wasting battery power and transmitting RF radiation. Moreover, such transmissions may include confidential information, thus made vulnerable to eavesdropping.
The invention refers to a cover adapted to be mounted on the headset when not in use, to cover the activation button. The cover thus prevents any accidental activation of the device.
Moreover, the cover includes simple, low cost means for its attachment to the headset: a slot on one side of the cover is so devised as to allow the insertion of the holding earhook therein, as illustrated.
Figs. 1 and 2 illustrate the wireless headset, with the rotatable holding earhook in its two positions. A variation of the part on the wireless headset enables the earhook to rotate instead of making an up and down movement.

Fig. 3 illustrates a perspective view of the cover device of the present invention, with a slot in one of its sides for the insertion of the holding earhook. The cover may also include a ring on its upper side, to hold the cover or the cover together with the headset. The ring may also be used as a key holder. A further embodiment will incorporate a hook or other means for mounting the cover on a belt.
Fig. U illustrates the cover mounted over the headset so as to cover the activation button. The holding earhook of the headset is so rotated as to hold the cover attached to the headset.
The cover can also be used for other headsets, e.g. those made by Sony-Ericson. It should not be limited to Bluetooth.
The cover can have attached to it a clip (not shown) to enable it to be mounted on a belt.
It will be recognized that the foregoing is but one example of an apparatus and method within the scope and spirit of the present invention and that various modifications will occur to those skilled in the art upon reading the disclosure set forth hereinbefore.
