Abstract

A remote installation device for an expanding pipe stopper 101 comprises a member 1602 configured to be rigidly attached to the lever 108 of a pipe stopper 101, and an elongate handle 1603 connected to said member by a hinging mechanism 1702. The remote installation device also has a stopping means 1703 which prevents the angle between the handle and the member increasing beyond a predetermined value. The elongate handle 1603 is preferably telescopic. The member 1602 preferably includes a socket 1701 that receives a ball on the lever 108. In an alternative arrangement, the lever (2209, figures 22A and 22B) and member (2208, figures 22A and 22B) are integrally formed. In a further aspect of the invention, the expanding pipe stopper 101, comprising a pair of coaxial plates with an outwardly expanding flexible seal between them, is disclosed.
