Abstract

Cellulose acetate goods are dyed from a hydrosulphite vat without hydrolysis by means of quinonearylides of the benzene or naphthalene series or thiazines, azines, or oxazines derived therefrom. A table is given of the shades produced with the following dyestuffs:- 2 : 5-di-p-chloranilinobenzoquinone, 3 : 6-dianilino-2 : 5- dichlorbenzoquinone, 3 : 6-di-p-oxyphenylamino-2 : 5-dichlorbenzoquinone, 2-anilino-1 : 4-naphthoone, 2-diphenylamino-1- : 4-naphthoquinone, the quinonimides from b -naphthoquinone-4-sulphonic acid and p-toluidine, p-aminodimethylaniline, p-phenylenediamine, or 1 : 4-aminonaphthol, the condensation products from naphthazarin and one molecule of p-phenylenediamine or p-aminophenol the thiazine obtained by heating 3 : 6-dianilino-2 : 5-dichlorbenzoquinone with sodium sulphide, the thiazines obtained by treating with sulphur dichloride the condensation product from b -naphthoquinone-4-sulphonic acid and p-toluidine or p-anisidine, or by boiling with alcoholic sodium polysulphide the condensation product from b -naphthoquinone-4-sulphonic acid and p-aminodimethylaniline, the azines obtained by heating under pressure with alcoholic ammonium sulphide the condensation products from benzoquinone and o-nitraniline, a -naphthoquinone and m-nitro-p-toluidine, or b -naphthoquinone-4-sulphonic acid and o-nitraniline, the oxazine from nitroso-m-dimethylaminophenol and naphthohydroquinone or 1-amino-2-naphthol or 2-amino-1-naphthol, and the oxazine from nitroso-m-dimethylaminophenol and hydroquinone.
