Abstract

A method and apparatus for transmitting overload forces through the structure of an automative seat track assembly (12), and for making such a seat track assembly provides slidably interlinked seat track profiles having enhanced bending and therefore separation resistance by virtue of an integral formed rib (28) section which incorporates material into the section which is nominally provided from a reduced thickness portion of the profile which has been rolled to achieve material transfer, and which is subjected mainly to tension (as opposed to bending) forces during use. The resultant seat track assembly is stronger and lighter in use than conventional seat track assemblies.
