Abstract
A skin cream, especially for use in the treatment of eczema and psoriasis, comprising a base cream, preferably a water based cream, containing in homogeneous mixture therewith, per 100 ml base cream, between 3 and 12 per cent essence of chamomile oil and between 3 and 25 per cent essence of lavender oil.
Description
S1S Cream
This invention relates to a skin cream, and in particular a skin cream for external application to provide relief from skin damage such as may be caused by burns and by skin diseases such as eczema and psoriasis.
According to the invention there is provided a skin cream comprising a harmless base cream and in homogeneous mixture therewith, per 100 ml of the base cream, between 3 per cent and 12 per cent pure essence of chamomile oil and between 3 per cent and 25 per cent pure essence of lavender oil.
A preferred amount of pure essence of lavender oil is between 3 per cent and 12 per cent per 100 ml of base cream.
A particularly preferred cream, especially for the treatment of eczema and psoriasis in adults, comprises, per 60 ml of base cream, 5 ml of pure essence of chamomile oil and 5 ml of pure essence of lavender oil. For children, a weaker cream containing, in 60 ml of base cream, 2.5 ml of chamomile oil essence and 2.5 ml of lavender oil essence is preferred.
A preferred base cream is a water based cream, typically an emulsifying ointment 30% w/w containing cetostearyl alcohol (about 8% wlw), sodium lauryl sulphate (about 1% w/w), liquid paraffin (about6% w/w), white soft paraffin (about 1596 w/w), phenoxyethanol (about 196 w/w) and purified water.
However, other harmless base creams, especially water based creams, can be used.
The cream in accordance with the invention is intended for external application to damaged or infected skin with a recommended frequency of two or three times per day.
The cream has been tested, both for adults and children suffering from eczema and/or psoriasis, and results have shown the cream to be universally effective in relieving the irritation caused by these diseases and in many cases preventing spread and reducing the extent of infected skin, wholly without any disadvantageous side effects.
Claims (5)
1. A skin cream comprising a harmless base cream and in homogeneous mixture therewith, per 100 ml of the base cream, between 3 per cent and 12 per cent pure essence of chamomile oil and between 3 per cent and 25 per cent pure essence of lavender oil.
2. A skin cream according to claim 1, having an amount of pure essence of lavender oil between 3 per cent and 12 per cent per 100 ml of base cream.
3. A skin cream according to claim 1 or claim 2, for use in the treatment of eczema and psoriasis in adults comprising, per 60 ml of base cream, 5 ml of pure essence of chamomile oil and S ml of pure essence of lavender oil.
4. A skin cream according to claim 1 or claim 2, for use in the treatment of eczema and psoriasis in children comprising, per 60 ml of base cream, 2.5 ml of chamomile oil essence and 2.5 ml of lavender oil essence.

A skin cream according to claim 4, in which the base cream is an emulsifying ointment 30% w/w containing cetostearyl alcohol (about 8% w/w), sodium lauryl sulphate (about 1% wlw), liquid paraffin (about 6% who), white soft paraffin (about 15% wiz), phenoxyethanol (about 1% w/w) and purified water.
5. A skin cream according to any of claims 1 to 4, in which the base cream is a water based cream.

A skin cream according to claim S, in which the base cream is an emulsifying ointment 30% w/w containing cetostearyl alcohol (about 8% w/w), sodium lauryl sulphate (about 1% w/w), liquid paraffin (about 6% w/w), white soft paraffin (about 15% w/w), phenoxyethanol (about 1% w/w) and purified water.
Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows
Claims 1. A skin cream for the treatment of burns and the skin diseases eczema and psoriasis, consisting of a harmless base cream containing, per 100 ml of said base cream, between 3 and 12 per cent pure essence of chamomile oil and between 3 and 12 per cent pure essence of lavender oil, and no other ingredients.
2. A skin cream according to claim 1, for use in the treatment of eczema and psoriasis in adults consisting of, per 60 ml of base cream, 5 ml of pure essence of chamomile oil and 5 ml of pure essence of lavender oil.
3. A skin cream according to claim 1, for use in the treatment of eczema and psoriasis in children consisting of, per 60 ml of base cream, 2.5 ml of chamomile oil essence and 2.5 ml of lavender oil essence.
4. A skin cream according to any of claims 1 to 3, in which the base cream is a water based cream.
