Abstract

The cheekpiece (refered to hereafter as "The pad") is a sandwich of two pieces of cover material and two shaped foam rubber inserts that when fitted to a rifle / shotgun will fit the face of the operator and help to raise the eye level above the axis of the bore of the wepon to a higher position that would be possible without the Pad. The pad will also contain a Magazine being made from elasticated matertial or a pre cut foam pad to enable the carrying of amunition related to and in the use of the weapon. The pad will contian a number of eyelets to aid the Pad being held in place by means of a lace on the stock.

Description

THE SNIPER CHEEKPIECE (a description of the product) The product is a sandwich consisting of two outer sheets of Neoprene approx. 4-5 mm thick and two inner contoured foam rubber pads, the sandwich is bonded together with a flexible adhesive. The pad is finished with sewn trimmings and has a ammunition magazine and a total of 14 eyelet's to allow the product to be laced up to hold it in place see photo 1.
OBJECT OF THE PRODUCT The product is designed to fit over - and lace up under a rifle / shotgun stock (see photo No 2) the object of the pad is to raise the eyeline of the shooter above the level at which it would normally be to aid in the use of optical equipment.
The level of the eye level is therefore adjustable because of the two complementary ramped pads that are positioned to anatomically contact the cheek and the jaw, therefore the height of the eye is adjustable by moving the either back or forward which will have the affect of raising or lowering the eye level.
THE MAGAZINE VARIATIONS The product is produced with various magazine configurations for different types of ammunition for, i.e.
shotgun cartridge, fullbore rifle and air rifle.
FULL.BORE RIFLE MAGAZINE this consists of a 2 inch belt of elasticised fabric sewn onto the side of the pad to form a series of pockets which will hold / carry the rifle ammunition (see photo No3) THE SHOTGUN MAGAZINE the description is as per above (see photo No4) AIR RIFLE MAGAZINE is a pad of high density foam 3 inches long by 1.5 inches high with individual holes stamped into it which will carry the air rifle pellets (see photo No5) A full working drawing is enclosed on page No6 KEY FOR APPLICATION No GB 9715594.9 PAGE NO 1, 1, TOP VIEW OF CHECKPIECE 2, 129mm END PAD WIDTH 3, 144mm MAX WIDTH 4, 125mm FOAM INSERT O/A LENGTH 5, 20mm FOAN INSERT O/A WIDTH 6, 7 DEGREES ANGLE BETWEEN OF THE TWO FOAM INSERTS 7, 122mm O/A LENGTH OF FOAM INSERT 8, 45mm O/A WIDTH OF FOAM INSERT 9, EYELET 5.30mm 10, O/A LENGTH OF PAD 11, SEWN TRIMINGS 12, SEWN TRIMINGS 13, SEWN TRIMINGS 14, SEWN TRIMINGS 15, AREA FOR AMMUNITION MAGAZINE PAGE NO 2, INTERNAL CONTOURD FOAM INSERTS 16, 18mm 17, 10 DEGREES 18, 10 DEGREES 19, 4 DEGREES 20, 25 DEGREES 21, 50 DEGREES 22, 18 DEGREES PAGE NO 3 AIR RIFLE MAGAZINE DIAGRAM 23A, .22 CALBIRE PELET MAGAZINE 23B, 177 CALABIRE PELET MAGAZINE 24, 7mm 25, S.56mm 26, 45mm 27, 13mm 28A, 12mm 28B, 12mm 28C, 12mm 28D, 12mm 29, 95mm 30, 5.36mm 31, 4.51mm KEY TO DRAWINGS 4A, 4B, SA, SB TITLE; SNIPERS CHEEKPIECE APPLICATION No GB 9715594.9 4A Above view of the pad laid out flat showing the eyelet's and sewn trimmings by the dotted lines.

Claims (4)

  1. TITLE: SNIPERS CHEEKPIECE APPLICATION NO GB 9715594.9 1. A Neoprene coverd material sandwich which contains two foam inserts that when fitted around a rifle I shotgun stock will anotomicaly fit I contact the face ie the jaw bone and the cheekbone of the opperator.
  2. 2. The two foam inserts are positioned at a complamentory angle to each other and in such a way that when the pad is moved either backwards or fallwards the taper of the pads will cause the eyeline of the operator to rise or fall (see spesification)
  3. 3. The pad will also contain the facility of a Magazine ie-the ability to hold and carry a given amout of ammunition that will be apropeate for that wepon.
  4. 4. The pad will as contain a number of eyelets to facilitate the pad being laced up to secure it in place.
    CLAIMS.
Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows 1, The Cheekpiece is flexible material sandwich ( hereafter none as the pad )that will contain two foam inserts and that are anatomically designed to fit the contours of the hunan face so that when fitted around a rifle / shotgun stock and that when the the weapon is brought into a firing position the pads will contact the face of the shooter i.e.
the jaw and cheekbone (systematicaly) and raise the eyeline of the operator above the normal position to aid in the use of optical devices and make shooting more comfort able.
2, The foam inserts in claim 1 are positioned at a set complementary angle to each other within the material sandwich so that when pad A is placed over and in line with the "comb" of the stock the pad will raise the eyelevel above the axis of the bore of the weapon. Also becasue of the ramped desigin of the inserts by moveing the pad back wards or forwards along the comb the taper of the of the inserts will cause the eyeline of the shooter to either be raised or lowered thus alowing the pad to be taylored to fit many different combinations of weapons and optical devices.
3, A pad as in claim 1 and 2 will also contain the facility of a magazine ie- the ability to hold and carry a givin amount of ammunition aproprate to that weapon. This is held in the case of the fullbore rifle magazine and the shotgun magazine by number of sewn loops ofelasticated materail. In the case of the Air rifle, the magazine consists of a stamped foam pad (see drawing No3 -23a and 23b) with holes to hold the appropreate size / calabre of amunition.
4, The pad as in cliam 1,2,3, will contain a ;a number of eyelets (see drawing No 1) so that when the pad is placed over the stock (with insert A over and in line with the comb) the eyelets will be undemeath the stock and therefore will be able to be laced togther ther fore holding the pad to the weapon.
