Abstract
A method for facilitating the removal of unwanted matter comprises directing a fine fluid spray at high pressure against said matter, the fluid including a first constituent designed to freeze the matter together with any one or more of the following additional constituents: a) a second constituent designed to crystallise the matter; b) a third constituent designed to disinfect the matter; c) a fourth constituent designed to act as a deodorant; d) a fifth constituent designed to act as a perfume e) a sixth constituent designed to act as a pesticide.
Description
CLEANING METHOD, MATERIAL AND APPARATUS
The present invention relates to a cleaning method, material and apparatus and more particularly to the cleaning up of waste matter such as animal excreta.
According to the present invention a device for facilitating the removal of unwanted matter comprises a means for directing a fine liquid spray at high pressure against said matter, the liquid including a first constituent designed to freeze the matter together with any one or more of the following constituents: a) a second constituent designed to crystallise the matter; b) a third constituent designed to disinfect the matter; c) a fourth constituent to act as a deodorant; d) a fifth constituent to act as a perfume.
e) a sixth constituent to act as a pesticide
According to the present invention a method of cleaning up waste matter comprises spraying such matter with a freezing fluid to render the waste matter solid and then mechanically separating the resulting solid waste matter from the material supporting it.
How the invention may now be carried out will now be described. by way of example only with reference to one embodiment of the invention.
An aerosol delivery device comprises a canister having a spray nozzle through which the contents of the canister may be dispensed. The pressure to drive the contents through the nozzle may be generated either by means of a propellant contained within the canister or by means of a hand operated mechanical pump arrangement (not illustrated).
If a propellant is used it would be one which did not have the effect of depleting ozone in the atmosphere. Examples of such propellants are HFC-134a (11,1 2-tetrafluoroethane) or HFC-227 (1,1,1,2,3,3,3 heptafluoropropane).
The canister 1 comprises a phial body coupled to a valve ferrule which in turn comprises a valve stem through which the aerosol formulation (described later) is dispensed. The valve ferrule includes a rubber valve seal or diaphragm intended to allow reciprocal movement of the valve stem while preventing leakage of the propellant from the container.
An example of a suitable construction of aerosol delivery device can be found in published International Patent Application No. PCT/US94/06900, which is incorporated by reference in so far as it is relevant to the diclosure of a typical aerosol delivery device.
The aerosol formulation contained in the canister 1 is designed to freeze waste matter on to which the contents of the canister are sprayed, such a formulation being designed to effect a temperature reduction preferably to between minus 20 and minus 30 degrees centigrade.
The formulation is also designed to dye the waste material in order to make it easily visible (IS THIS CORRECT OR IS THERE SOME OTHER PURPOSE ?), to disinfect the waste material and to neutralise the smell of the waste material.
Two examples of the formulation will now be described:
EXAMPLE 1
Freezing constituent Butane gas
Crystallising constituent Pentane gas
Deodorant Methyl Undecylenate
EXAMPLE 2
Freezing constituent Liquid nitrogen
Crystallising constituent Pentane gas
Deodorant constituent Methyl Undecylenate
Perfume constituent Commercial Fragrance
EXAMPLE 3
Freezing constituent Liquid nitrogen
Crystallising constituent Pentane gas
Deodorant constituent Methyl Undecylenate
Perfume constituent Commercial Fragrance
Pesticide constituent Neopynamin @ 0.2% and/or Pynamin Forte @ 0.1% Clearly modifications and variations may be made to the above described device and
Examples without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the following claims A method of using the above described device and material will now be described in relation to the removal of animal excreta which has been deposited on the ground.
Whilst the removal of such unwanted matter can and usually is effected by simply mechanically lifting the material from the ground this operation is inefficient as well as being unpleasant due to the semi-liquid or at least non-solid nature of the material. This fact means that it is also very difficult to remove all the material from the ground however many attempts are made to do so.
By using the present invention it is possible not only to facilitate the removal of the unwanted material but also to ensure that substantially all the material is removed.
Furthermore, by the incorporation of the deodorant and the perfume any obnoxious odours which have not already in effect been neutralised by the freezing action will be masked. In this context a deodorant is an odour neutraliser and a perfume is an odour mask.
To carry out the invention the contents of the aerosol canister are directed at the unwanted material for a sufficient length of time to cause freezing of that material, this being achieved by the normal pressure of the operating button on the canister (or plunger in the case of a mechanically operated aerosol) and the aiming of the spray nozzle at the material.
After the unwanted material has been frozen it can then by easily mechanically separated from its support, the ground in the case of animal excreta.
The invention can be used to facilitate the removal of any other type of unwanted material from other types of support.
