Abstract
A first tube A has a diathermy hook electrode at one end and an electrical supply connection at the other, adjacent a suction coupling for removing smoke. A parallel tube B houses a fibre optic light which illuminates the surgical site.
Description
SURGICAL DISSBCTOR Description
This invention relates to a dissector for use in surgery, especially where illumination, using conventional surgical lights, is difficult.
The instrument consists of two metal tubes, each 4mm in diameter, welded together. At one end is a diathermy electrode, and at the other end is a diathermy connector and two fittings for the tubes.
One of the tubes is connected to a sucker, to extract smoke, and the other tube is the carrier for a fibroptic light, called a Dellilume CT This produces a bright light about lem from the diathermy electrode, and this light is directed onto the diathermy electrode, enabling the surgeon to see clearly the tissue being dissected.
The instrument consists of two insulated hollow metal tubes, each 4mm in diameter internally.
Tube A is connected to a sucker, & tube B carries a fibroptic light. Tube A has a diathermy hook attached to one end, and at the other end there is a connector for the diathermy lead, and a luer lock fitting for a sucker. The two tubes are welded together.
Claims (1)
- SURGICAL DISSECTORClaial, This dissector is the only surgical instrument which has an integral light source which illuminates the tip of the instrument, thus facilitating dissection in areas where illumination using conventional surgical lights is unsatisfactory.
