Abstract

A foot plate is made up of two end plates (12) which have the same shape and dimension, The three tubes (14) are all the same size and dimension. The tubes fit into the plates as shown in the assembled device 15. Figure 1 shows the application of the device 15 from an overhead view of a single bed (16).

Description

FOOT PLATE This invention relates to a foot plate The foot plate is a device that will enable a person who has limited mobility to be able to manoeuvre in bed unaided.
This invention gives that person a strong platform in which they would be able to push down onto with their feet. Figure 1 shows how you would locate the device on the bed over or under the bed linen in the case when a base board is present., but under the linen when used on a divan type bed.
By giving that person a launching platform further up the bed one would be able to use the strength in ones legs as well as the 2.nm.5 to be able to push oneself up into a sitting position in bed , and from this position the transition to getting out of bed would require a simpie twist to one side.
The device as shown in figure 2 is made up of five components two end plates which have counter sunk holes which have been reinforced where the spacing rods fit.
The spacing rods can be cut to adjust the depth at which the end plate comes up the bed.
This means the device can be set to fit the requirements of one person.
The device may aiso be used as a permanent rest in order to prevent a person slipping further down the bed.

Claims (4)

  1. A A Foot Plate comprising of two end plate with three countersunk blind holes in each one.
    Both plates are made of strong light weight plastic with internal cross webbing for added strength.
    Three tubes fit into the end plates for complete assembly. These tubes can be cut to shorten the depth of the Foot Plate.
  2. 2 The foot plate as claimed in 1 wherein the two end plates are made of the same shape and dimension
  3. 3 The foot plate as claimed in 1 wherein the three countersunk holes are all of the same depth and dimension. The holes are of a size as to allow the tubes to pass into them.
  4. 4 The foot plate substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1-3 of the accompanying drawings.
