Abstract

A jack for lifting e.g. plasterboard comprises two manually operated telescopic jacks joined by a cross bar (6, Fig 2). The jacks and cross bar are frictionally locked in place and released by a handle. Preferably, the cross-bar carries a working platform e.g. of scaffolding boards. Preferably, the jacks are mounted on castors and their distance apart is adjustable.

Description

LIFTING JACK This invention relates to a Board Lifting device.
Fixing boards overhead is an awkward procedure for one or two people. This invention allows a single operator to fix boards easily, in less time and more accurately. The system comprises of two jacking devices and an interconnecting cross bar.
The.jacking device comprises of two plates; one locking plate and one jacking plate assisted by springs.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to Figures 1, 2 & 3.
Figures 1 shows a front view of the jacking system.
Figure 2 shows a side view Figure 3 shows a general perspective view of the system in use.
Referring to the drawing, the lifting jack comprises a Main Frame 1 fflg2); a T-Bar 2 (fig 1); a Jacking Unit 3 (fig 2); a Platform 4 (fig I)a Jacking Arm 5 (fig 2) and a Cross Bar 6 (fig 2).
A general perspective arrangement is provided (fig 3).
The cross bar 6 is inserted into the platform supports 4, until past locking button on either end of cross bar (the distance apart of the lifting units is adjustable to fit the length of the board). The steps supports 4 are a sliding unit on which are placed suitable platforms to work off. The castors on the base of the Main Frames 1 should be locked to hold the device in position. A board is placed on the T-Bar 2, and using both jacking arms 5, the board is raised to the desired position. Once fixed, the units can be lowered by holding the T-Bar 2 and releasing locking plate and lowering manually.

Claims (14)

1. A fifting jacking system, which comprises two jacking devices and an interconnecting cross bar.
2. A lifting jacking system as in Claim 1 that is automatically secured by a frictional mechanism.
