Description

POST CARD WITH INTERACTIVE STICKERS This invention relates to a type of Post Card whereon the image is incomplete; it is completed by the application of peel-off stickers that are presented at a different location on the card.

Conventional Post Cards are usually pretty to look at but cannot convey information about the structures or artefacts that lie within or behind the image that can be seen. This invention makes it possible for post cards to convey far more information than is otherwise possible, causing it to have a far greater educational and entertainment value.

According to the present invention there is provided a Post Card within the normal range of sizes. Somewhere on the card- either at the base of the main image, or on the reverse, is a selection of adhesive stickers, the design and layout of which is linked directly to the visual content of the card. By taking stickers and locating them in the correct place in the main image, the main image is altered such that it presents alternative information about the scene, thus enabling a deeper understanding of the image.

A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which the stickers are located on a horizontal strip across the base of the card: Figure 1 shows at full size a photographic Post Card of Tower Bridge in London wherein the main image has been altered to reveal the bridge as it would look if all the stonework that dads the steel structure of the bridge, and various other parts of it, were removed. At the base of the card may be seen a series of die-cut images. They are stickers that may be removed from their backing. The glue used may be permanent, in which case the stickers cannot be moved once applied; or a low adhesion type such that they can be re-located. The backing itself is glued to the card.

Figure 2 shows at reduced size how the die cut images can be removed from the card, and put onto the main image. In this embodiment, the user is imitating the stages that were undertaken as the bridge was built.

Gradually, the Bridge becomes more recognisable as that which can be seen today.

Figure 3 shows the completed card.

Figure 4 shows a modification whereby the adhesive sticker strip can itself be removed, since the glue attaching it to the card is of a low-adhesion type. This reveals further information about the completed image.

It also provides the facility whereby the completed image can be disassembled, by providing storage locations for the die cut elements.

Referring to the drawing the Post Card main image 1 is incomplete. A series of stickers 2 are mounted on a strip 3 at the base of the card, which is itself adhered on its rear surface to the card. The stickers are located into the appropriate position on the card main image 4 to modify or complete it. The completed image 5 shows all the stickers located and the gaps from which they have come 6.

Claims

1 A form of interactive post card comprising the main card image, and a set of stickers located on the front or rear of the card that are used to add further information to the main image

2 A form of interactive post card as claimed in claim 1 in which the sticker strip may itself be removed to reveal further information

3 A form of interactive post card substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1 - 4 of the accompanying drawing.
