Abstract

A pillow comprises a core 4 and a pillowcase or enclosure 3. The pillow material 4 is contained by a cover 5. The pillowcase is made of outside layer 6, interlining 7 and inside layer 8. The interlining can have different height and/or firmness. With the help of pillowcase, height and firmness of the pillow may be adjusted. It is convenient to wash and it is easy to be dried.

Description

An adjustable pillow The present invention relates in general to a household article, more particularly to an adjustable pillow.

It is well known that sleep is necessary to health and it is very important for everybody to keep sleep well. Therefore, the pillow interests us very much. Now there are various types of pillows available in the market.

However, in existing pillows, it is difficult to find it that suits everyone as each individual has different body, particularly size of their heads and necks differ. In order to satisfy all demands, it is necessary to provide a series of a few hundred sizes for selection of different highness and/or firmness. For selecting, selling, manufacturing and storing, it will be no convenience and give rise to considerable problems.

Besides, the pillow is made of different materials such as cotton, feather, plastics, sponge or leaves etc. The general pillow is unable to be washed. If doing so, it has to take long time to dry. Of course, it may also be dried by blowing hot air, but it has to take trouble to do it.

Under these conditions, it is apparent that a need exists for a pillow will enable a user conveniently to adjust highness and/or firmness thereof as well as to wash it. This type of pillow enables the user to keep sleep well accordingly.

An object of the invention is to provide an adjustable pillow which can be selected based on different requirements of each individual and can be washed.

The above object is achieved by the invention, which comprises pillow core consisting of a pillow material having fixed thickness T and/or different shape and a cover containing said pillow material, a pillowcase having interlining of different highness H and/or firmness and surrounding said pillow, whereby highness and/or firmness of said pillow may be adjusted.

This object as well as advantages of the present invention will become clear by the following description of two preferred embodiments of the present invention with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein: Figure 1 is a transverse sectional view of healthy type of pillow in accordance with the present invention; and Figure 2 is a transverse sectional view of comfort type of pillow in accordance with the present invention.

Example 1 Referring to an embodiment of the present invention illustrated in Figure 1, the pillow 1 of the present invention comprises a pillow core 2 and a pillowcase 3 therein the pillow core 2 consists of pillow material 4 having fizzed thickness T wherein T = fixed thickness according to our specification say 3.25" at this moment such as pu foam etc., as well as a cover 5 containing said pillow material; the pillowcase 3 includes an outside layer 6, interlining 7 and inside layer 8 therein it is possible for the outside layer 6 to use normal fabric (T/C fabric); interlining 7 was made with polyurethane foam and inside layer 8 with paper interlining. Interlining 7 has different highness H wherein H = variable height.

According to the present invention, when first making a pillow (size: L X W) wherein L = fixed length according to our specification say 13" at this moment; W= fixed width according to our specification say 23" at this moment which may be referred to as "healthy type of pillow", Sea Horse comfort medium foam may first be made into a pillow core 4 wherein thickness T1 on one end thereof and T2 on the other one, wherein T1 and T2 are fixed thickness, according to our specification, say 3" and 4" at this moment respectively, and it has curved shapes on the upper side thereof, and then taking paper interlining as inside layer 8, and on which Polyurethane foam with different thickness and/or firmness is placed as interlining 7 as well as T/C fabric as outside layer 6 which consists of 65% by weight of polyester and 35% by weight of cotton, these three layers 6,7,8 may be quilted into a pillowcase 3(size: L1 X W1 wherein L1 = fixed length according to our specification, say 14" at this moment; W1 = fixed width according to our specification, say 24" at this moment.) and a zipper is mounted on it. The outside layer 6 may be quilted in longitudinal or transversal lines, or a variety of patterns.

If using longitudinal or transversal lines, a distance between both lines lies advantageously in the range about 1" to 3", preferably at a distance of 3". In order to facilitate selection of different highness and/or firmness, the use of interlining 7 having various thickness and/or firmness has been show to bring an improvement. The thickness T of the interlining 7 is variable, according to our specification say 4mm, 8mm, 12mm and 18mm at this moment. The interlining 7 may be fixed or replaced.

According to the requirements of the user, it is also possible to use Sea Horse Comfort medium foam or Sea Horse superior foam etc. as interlining 7.

The paper interlining may be used to make a cover 5, if necessary, into which the pillow material 4 is put, thus it is easy to put the pillow in the pillowcase 3.

Example 2 Referring to another embodiment of the present invention illustrated in Figure 2, the pillow 1 of the present invention comprises a pillow core 2 and a pillowcase 3.

According to the present invention, when first making a pillow (size: L X W) which may be referred to as "comfort type of pillow", except that plastics and sponge may be used as the pillow core 2, cotton, feather or leaves etc. may also be used as the pillow materials, and they should be put into the cover 5, the shape of which is the same as that of the general pillow. If using Sea Horse comfort soft foam or Sea Horse superior foam and Sea Horse comfort medium foam as pillow core 2, its thickness should preferably be 3t' or 38" or or respectively. Finally, thus made pillow core 2 is accompanied with the pillowcase 3 (size: L1 X W1) which is formed in accordance with Example 1.

In use, the pillow of the present invention is easily selected by these personal differences in order to perfectly suit an individual. With the help of the pillow core and/or the pillowcase 3, it can be modified into some matched groups so that it can be claimed to be healthy and comfortable and can fulfill each person's requirements to the pillow. Moreover, it is convenient for the pillowcase to wash and it is easy to be dried.

From the fore going, it will be appreciated that an object of the present invention is the development of the pil low.

Claims (10)

Having described our invention in sufficient detail to enable those skilled in the make and use it, we claim:

1. An adjustable pillow comprising: a pillow core consisting of a pillow material with fixed height and/or different shape, and a cover containing said pillow material, and a pillowcase having interlining with different highness and/or firmness and surrounding said pillow core, whereby highness and/or firmness of said pillow may be adjusted.

2. A pillow according to claim 1, wherein said pillow material comprises Sea Horse comfort medium foam Sea Horse superior foam or Sea Horse comfort soft foam.

3. A pillow according to claim 1, wherein said pillow advantageously has general type (comfort type) and curved type (healthy type).

4. A pillow according to claim 1, therein said pillow core has fixed height, preferably 3/4 for harder foam or 3%' for softer foam.

5. A pillow according to claim 1, wherein said cover is made of the paper interlining.

6. A pillow according to claim 1, wherein said pillowcase is made of outside layer, interlining and inside layer, for example using T/C fabric as outside layer, polyurethane foam as interlining and paper interlining as inside layer.

7. A pillow according to claim 1 or 6, wherein said interlining has different thickness and/or firmness, the thickness of which preferably is 4mm, 8mm, 12mm or 18mm.

8. A pillow according to claim 1 or 6, wherein said three layers may be quilted in a variety of patterns.

9. A -pillow according to claim 1 or 8, wherein said patterns include longitudinal or transversal lines which are quilted on outside layer.

10. A pillow according to claim 1 or 6, wherein said interlining may be Sea Horse comfort Soft foam, Sea Horse superior foam or Sea Horse comfort medium foam.
