Abstract

A box for storing at least one pair of compact discs 2 has at least one pair of inserts 1 for engaging the central apertures of discs 2, one insert 1 projecting further than the other so as to retain the discs 2 in spaced, overlapping relationship. A space 3 for receiving a pamphlet may be provided, as may a hook 6.

Description

THE INVENTION RELATES TO A COMPACT DISC STORAGE BOX.

THE PORTABLE MULTI STORAGE PRESENTATION BOX FOR COMPACT DISCS HOLDS UP TO 4 COMPACT DISCS FIRMLY AND EASILY IN PLACE WITHOUT THEM MOVING OR RUBBING AGAINST EACH OTHER BY MEANS OF 4 INSERTS.

THE ARTICLE IS MADE FROM POLYPROPYLENE WITH A CLEAR POLYPROPYLENE SLEEVE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE BOX (NOT SHOWN IN THE REPRESENTATIONS) ENABLING USE OF PRESENTATION LEAFLETS, DESCRIPTION, ETC.

THE BOX IS HINGED, A SPECIAL SPACE IS PROVIDED FOR PAMPHLET STORAGE AND THE BOX CONTAINS A HOOK USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES.

A SPECIFIC EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION WILL NOW BE DESCRIBED BY WAY OF EXAMPLE WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWING IN WHICH: FIGURE 1 ILLUSTRATES THE INSIDE OF THE BOX WHEN BOX IS FULLY OPEN WITH INSERTS (1) AND DISCS (2) IN PLACE. THE PAMPHLET HOLDER (3) IS IN THE MIDDLE BETWEEN THE TWO HINGES (4).

THE BACK IS PLAIN, WITH A CLEAR POLYPROPYLENE SLEEVE WELDED TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE BOX ON THE TWO LONGER EDGES OF THE BOX. (NOT ILLUSTRATED) FIGURE 2 ILLUSTRATES THE CLOSED VIEW OF THE BOX WITH INSERTS (1) AND DISCS (2) IN PLACE.

Claims

1. A storage container for storing compact discs comprising a housing adapted to store at least one pair of compact discs, so that when stored therein each compact disc of such a pair is positioned so that it is spaced apart from and overlaps with the other compact disc of that pair, there being a support for each compact disc which comprises a respective projection from the housing and which is to be spiggotted into the central aperture of the disc to support it, one of the two projections for each pair of compact discs projecting further into said housing than the other.

A storage container according to claim 1, wherein said housing comprises two tray shaped portions, each tray shaped portion having a substantially rectangular base portion and three upstanding wall portions, each being hinged at its unwalled end to one side of a spine portion, wherein said projections project from at least one of said substantially rectangular base portions into a space between said wall portions, and said tray shaped portions are operable to be folded about said spine portion so that together they form a closed box.

A storage container according to claim 2, wherein holding means are provided on said spine portion, said holding means being positioned so that when said at least two compact discs are positioned on the respective projections and said tray shaped portions are folded about said spine portion, said holding means are in the interior of said housing and are spaced from the compact discs.

4. A storage container according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the housing is adapted to store two pairs of compact discs.

5. A storage container according to claim 2 or claim 3 wherein each of said tray shaped portions is adapted to house a pair of compact discs.

6. A storage container according to any of the preceding claims, wherein a sleeve is provided on an exterior surface of said housing.

7. A storage container according to any of the preceding claims, wherein a hook is provided on said exterior surface of said housing.

8. A storage container according to claim 2, wherein said box can be stored on one of its base portions or on a portion formed by the upstanding wall portions, so that discs contained therein are supported in a substantially vertical or a substantially horizontal orientation respectively.

9. A storage container according to any of the preceding claims, wherein said housing is made of polypropylene.

10. A storage container according to any of the preceding claims, wherein said housing is made of plastic.

11. A storage container substantially as described hereinbefore with reference to the accompanying drawings and as shown in Figure 1 or Figure 2 or Figure 3 or Figure 4 of those drawings.
