Description

FOLDING SQUARE/STRAIGHT EDGE (Technical field) This invention relates to a folding square with straight edge.
(Background) A set square is a well known piece of equipment that always remains in the same position. There are special types of set square that can adjust and slide.
The sliding square, however remains as a square. The Adjustable square will not expand to 180 degrees giving you a straight edge, or to 0/360 degrees for easy trans portation.
(Essential Technical Features) According to the invention there is provided a folding square with straight edge in the form of three components capable of being put together as a set square or straight edge with hand holes and spirit levels usable in either position.
(Example) The specific embodiment of:the invention will now be described with reference to the accom panying drawings in which: Figure 1 Shows the brace and two halves of the square fixed in position to form a straight edge.
Figure 2 Illustrates the two halves of the square and the brace fixed into position to form a square.
Figure 3 Shows the joint detail when in the straight edge position.
Figure 4 Shows the corner details when in the square position.
(Example Continued) Figure 5 shows the three separate components of the folding square with straight edge.
Figure 6 shows the folding square with straight edge folded for transit.
Referring to the drawings the folding square with straight edge can be fixed in desired positions by use of a halving joint 22, and bolt 16 or similar means. On each half of folding square with straight edge 12 and 14, at least one hand hole 18 and spirit level 20 are provided.
In order to transfer the folding square with straight edge from Figure 1 and/or 3 to Figure 2 and/or 4 loosen bolts 16, move components 12 and 14, the brace 10 to square position, figure 2 and/or 4, relocate bolts 16 and tighten.
In order to provide folding position for transit figure 6, loosen and remove bolts 16 (or similar means) place components 12 and 14, the brace 10 on top of one another. Relocate bolts 16 and tighten.
To re-establish square position figure 2 and /or 4 or the straight edge position figure 1 and/or 3 reverse sequences.

Claims (3)

1. The folding square with straight edge, comprising of three main components can be fixed together in two positions by use of a halving joint and bolts, or similar means to form either a right angle with brace.

2. The folding square with straight edge as claimed in claim 1, can be bolted together with the three components on top of one another for easy transportation.
3. The folding square with straight edge substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1-6 of the accompanying drawing.
