Abstract

A golf club structure (10) includes a head (14) connected to a shaft (12) via a neck (16). The head (14) has a concave face (18) to contact a ball in hitting the ball. The concavity of the face (18) of the head (14) provides a better controllability to the moving direction of the ball due to the fact that it provides a better chance to allow the hitting surface of the face (18) to be normal to the desired path of the ball.

Description

GOLF CLUB STRUCTURE The present invention relates to a golf club and in particular to a golf club having a concave face to provide a better controllability to the moving direction of ball.
A golf club set usually comprises a putter and several Iron clubs and wooden clubs. The selection of the clubs is dependent upon the distance between the ball and the destination hole as well as elevation angle of the ball trail.
Sometimes, it is hard for a golfer to precisely control the direction o a hit ball. Such a problem may be caused by the head structure of the conventional golf club. The conventional golf club comprises a shaft to which a read, either an ron or a wood, is mounted. The head is provicec with a slight convex face which is the portion tat contacts ball n hitting te ball. In hitting, if the face 5 rot correctly oriented when contacting the ball, the ball will tend to travel along a path that is not desired.Fig. 1E of the attached drawings shows a correct hitting, which causes the ball to go straight ahead while Figs. 1A and 1C show situations of incorrect hitting, causing the ball to move in un-desired directions.
It is therefore desirable to provide an improved golf club having a concave face to overcome such a problem.
The principal object of the present invention is therefore to provide an improved golf club that has a concave face so as to provide a better controllability to the moving direction of the ball.
In accordance with the present invention, an improved golf club structure is provided, comprising a head connected to a shaft via a neck. The head comprises a concave face to contact a ball in hitting the ball. The concavity of the face of the nead provides a better controllability to the moving direction of the ball due to the fact that it provides a better @@ance to allow the hitting surface of the face to be @@ma@ @@ the desired path of the ball The present invention will be better understood from the following description of preferred embodiments thereof with reference to the attached drawings, wherein:: Figs 1A, 1B and 1C show moving direction of a golf ball when hit by a prior art golf club at different locations; Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing a concave-faced golf club, with the grip portion of the shaft eliminated for simplicity, constructed in accordance with a first embodiment of the presen Fig. 3 is a front side view of the concave-faced golf club shown in Fig. 2; Fig. 4 is a top view of the concave-faced golf club shown in Fig. 2; Figs. 5A, 5B and 5C show moving direction of a golf ball when hit by the golf club in accordance with the first embodiment of the present invention at different locations;; Fig. 6 is a perspective view showing a concave-faced golf club, with the grip portion of the shaft eliminated for simplicity, constructed in accordance with a second embodiment of the present invention; Fig. 7 is a front side view of the concave-faced golf club shown in Fig. 6; Fig. 8 is a top view of the concave-faced golf club shown n Fig. 6; and Figs. 9A, 9 and 9C show moving direction of a golf ball when hit by the golf club in accordance with the second embodiment of the present invention at different locations.
With reference to the drawings ano in particular te FiOS.
2, 3 and 4, whereIn a concave-faced golf club constructed in accordance with a first embodiment of the present invention, which is a wooden club, generally designated with the reference numeral 10, is shown, the golf club 10 comprises a shaft 12 to which a head 14 is connected via a neck 16. The head 14 comprises a face 18 which is made concave in accordance with the present invention. The concavity of the face 18 provides a better chance to have the portion of the concave face 18 that contacts a ball (not shown) in hitting the ball to be substantially normal to the desired moving direction of the ball when viewed from the top side. This provides the golfer (not shown) with a better controllability to the moving direction of the ball.
Figs. 5A, 5B and 5C show three different situations of using the golf- club 10 to hit a golf ball 30, illustrating that the ball 30 always goes straight ahead.
For an iron club, a second embodiment of the concavefaced golf club is shown in Figs. 6, 7 and 8 and designed with the reference numeral 20, which, similar to the first embodiment of Figs. 2, 3 and 4, comprises a shaft 22 to which a head 24 is connected via a neck 26. The head 24 has a concave face 2S which, due to its concavity, provides a better controllability to the moving direction of the ball.
rigs. 9A, 9B and 9C show three different situations of using the golf club 20 to hit a golf ball 40, illustrating that the bail 43 always goes straight ahead.
Although referred embodiments have been described to illustrate the idea of the present invention, it is not intended to limit the scope of the present invention with such preferred embodiments and the true scope of the present invention is only defied by the appended claims.
