Abstract

A disposable and self adhesive make up shield (a) to be worn below the eye during the application of eye make-up. The shield comprises an absorbent top surface (b) and a self adhesive strip (d) on the reverse side. The crescent shaped device provides protection for the lower eyelid and areas of the user's face below the eye from excess make-up. It is envisaged that these devices may be available in multiple stacks, very similar to self adhesive stationery notelets.

Description

1 2398238 Disposable self-adhesive makeup shield
Description
Scope of the invention The invention relates to a disposable, and selfadhesive, makeup shield to be worn below the eye during the application of eye makeup. Formed in such a way to provide a protective shield over the lower eyelid and areas ofthe user's face below the eye, preventing excess makeup from falling onto the user's face or clothing during makeup application.
Problem that the invention solves During the application of eye makeup, including mascara, eyeliner, eye shadow and eyebrow pencil, it is not possible to prevent makeup from falling or dripping offthe applicator / brush / wand / pencil onto the user's lower eyelid, the rest ofthe lower face or clothing.
What the invention does An object of this invention is to provide a protective shield which attaches self- adhesively immediately under the lower eyelashes thereby allowing the user to utilise both hands in the application of makeup, and ensuring that no makeup falls onto the rest ofthe face below the eye or onto the user's clothing.
Essential features of the invention Accordingly, this invention provides a shield that is self-adhesive and disposable self-adhesive materials have the properties of those used in the paper "Post-it' brand that are widely available as stationery. This self-adhesive material will ensure that the shield can be attached to the lower eyelid and will remain in place during the application of makeup, but can be removed painlessly and without marking the user's face once makeup application is complete. The self-adhesive material will also ensure that a series of shields can be piled up one on top of another, in a similar way to a pile of paper "Postits" (berm) without losing their self-adhesive capacity.
The shield is shaped in such a way that it fits under the lower eyelashes and follows the natural contours of the lower eyelid, widening out in the area that covers the cheekbones in order to provide maximum coverage of the lower face area.
Preferably the shield is made of an absorbent paper or a light absorbent material with the properties of being able to absorb makeup that falls onto its top surface, whilst at the same time being able to stick one shield on top of another in a similar way to a pad of "Post-its". It may instead be made from a combination of such materials, the intent being that a series of shields can be stacked up into a pile such that the top section of the bottom surface of one adheres to the top section of the top surface of the one underneath, and such that it maintains its adhesive qualities once it is removed from the pile and placed onto the user's face.
Detailed description
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: FIGURE 1 shows a perspective view illustrating the use of the eye makeup shield of the invention during the application of eye makeup FIGURE 2 shows a front view of the shield FIGURE 3 shows a rear view of the shield FIGURE 4 shows a side view of the shield FIGURE 5 shows a side view of a pile of shields on top of one another FIGURE 6 shows a perspective view illustrating the invention in a preferred position against the lower eyelid during the application of eye makeup Like reference numerals refer to like parts throughout the views of the drawings.
As shown in Figures 1 through 6, the invention is directed towards a disposable and self- adhesive eye shield for use in the application of makeup to prevent excess makeup from falling onto the lower eyelid, face and the user's clothing. This also enables the user to have the use of both hands whilst applying makeup, since the adhesive nature of the structure ensures that it remains attached to the user's face without any further intervention once it has been stuck in place.
The invention consists of a crescent shaped structure (a) constructed from material that is absorbent on the top surface (b) and a bottom surface (c) that will rest on the cheek whilst being attached to the user's face by a narrow self-adhesive area (d) which is attached directly below the user's eye The crescent shaped structure (a) is further shaped in order that its top side (e) is also crescent shaped in order that it follows the natural contour of the user's bottom eyelid (f3 The self- adhesive area (d) is composed of a substance similar to that of paper "Post-its" ( em) widely in use today. That is, the self-adhesive area of one shield will adhere to the top surface of a second shield without losing its adhesive nature prior to application to the user's face.
The self-adhesive area (d) has the property such that, once a shield is removed from the shield beneath it, it retains its adhesive nature and can be stuck to the user's face underneath the bottom eyelid (f).
The self-adhesive area (d) whilst adhering to the user's bottom eyelid (f) , has the properties such that it does not attach itself permanently but can be removed easily and painlessly by the user after use without leaving any marks or residue adhesive upon the user's face.
A series of disposable makeup shields (a) can thus be stacked one on top of another (g) in a similar way to a pile of paper "Post-its"(RrM).
The disposable makeup shield (a) is not intended for use on more than one occasion, so will be disposed of by the user once they have made up one eye. A second disposable makeup shield (a) will then be utilised as previously in order to apply makeup to the 2 eye.
