Abstract
A key ring fob comprises two complementary parts 1,2 which form a container which is adapted to hold an adaptor for removing lockable vehicle wheel nuts. A key chain is attached to a loop joined to the outer surface of the container. The two parts forming the container may be reversibly separated by unscrewing them, unhinging them or by pulling them apart. In use, the key ring fob ensures that the driver of a vehicle has the adaptor allowing him to unlock the locakable wheel nuts of his vehicles with him at all times so that it is available to hand should it be needed.
Description
KEY ADAPTOR HOLDER.
This invention relates to a key ring which will be a container for a key adaptor to insert or remove lock nuts from vehicle wheels.
It is safe to assume that the majority of vehicles throughout the UK and Worldwide now have fitted lock nuts. Lock nuts help prevent theft of wheels and/or tyres on vehicles. Unique key adaptors are manufactured for removal of locknuts. This means that it is difficult to remove lock nuts without the special key adaptor. In a majority of cases the key adaptor is kept either in the vehicle or is left at home. If a puncture occurs and the key adaptor is left at home, it is not possible to change the wheel. If the key adaptor is kept in the car, there is an increased risk of the alloys and lyres being stolen if the car is broken into.
The purpose of inventing the key adaptor key ring holder is to ensure that the key adaptor is never left in the car. It also means that in the event of a puncture or the need for a wheel change, the key adaptor always remains with the car keys. The lock nut will be contained in the casing which can be tailor made to suit the size of the key adaptor.
The holder can be made from a number of materials such as metal, plastic and any other durable material.
According to the present invention there is provided a key adaptor key ring holder comprising of a casing, a key ring chain and a loop to which the key ring chain can be secured to. Access can be obtained to the key adaptor by opening the casing either by un-screwing figure 3, snapping open figure 4 or opening casing via hinge figure 6.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure I shows in perspective, the holder in a closed position with a screw-on or snap- on in the middle of the casing.
Figure 2 shows in perspective, the holder in a closed position with a screw-on or snap- on top.
Figure 3 shows in perspective, the holder in an open position allowing access to the key adaptor via snap-on or screw-on in the middle of the casing.
Figure 4 shows in perspective, the holder in an open position allowing access to the key adaptor via a snap-on or screw-on top.
Figure 4 shows in perspective, the holder in an open position allowing access to the key adaptor via a snap-on or screw-on top.
Figure 5 shows in perspective, the holder in a closed position with a hinged top.
Figure 6 shows in perspective, the holder in an open position with a hinged top allowing access to the key adaptor.
Referring to the drawing the key adaptor holder comprises of a casing 3 which holds the key adaptor secured by either a screw-on, snap-on or hinged lid 4. On the side of the casing 3, a loop I is attached for securing a key ring chain (not shown).
In order to obtain access to the key adaptor, casing 3 has to be either unscrewed or unclipped depending on the type of design as shown in figures 3, 4 & 6.
Claims (8)
1. The key adaptor holder comprises of two parts encasing the key adaptor by means of a screw-on, snap-on or hinged form of fixing. A loop is attached to the casing for securing a key ring chain.
2. The key adaptor holder as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the guide means the encasing holds the key adaptor.
3. A key adaptor holder as claimed in Claim I or Claim 2, wherein the guide means that it can be secured in a number of ways such as a screw fix, snap on or hinged.
4. A key adaptor holder as claimed Claim 2 or 3, wherein the guide means that the holder will consist of one or more forms of securing the key adaptor in the casing.
5. A key adaptor holder as claimed in Claim 3 or Claim 4, wherein the casing is secured either at the top or middle or bottom of the holder.
6. A key adaptor holder as claimed in Claim 4 or Claim 5, will have a loop attached to the casing in order to attach a key ring chain.
7. A key adaptor holder as claimed in any preceding claim can be manufactured in any colour, material or size to suit the key adaptor. It may also have any logo, picture or symbol embedded or printed on the casing.
8. A key adaptor holder substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1- 6 of the accompanying drawing.
