Abstract
A recycling stack has compartments 4,5 to keep different types of recyclable waste separate. The design will preferably have a top compartment 4 with a lid 2 to enable tipping into a refuse collection lorry as conventional bins. The lower part may have compartments to fit boxes 5 of universal design in different colours for different wastes, removable by sliding. A handle 3 and wheels 7 at the rear provide mobility. The bin body may be a plastics moulding similar to a conventional wheelie bin.
Description
Recycling Stack The invention relates to a recycling stack used for
households to deposit all their recyclable waste in for regular collection by the local authority.
The recycling stack is adapted from a wheelie bin which is now almost universal in this country at least as a means of collecting and storing rubbish safely. It's main disadvantages are it's capacity is large and encourages more waste to be generated, usually for land-fill, and it does not easily allow for separation of material for recycling.
The object of this invention is to allow easier separation and storage of waste for recycling rather than land-fll.
Accordingly, this invention may have a smaller top space to allow for bags of kitchen waste etc. but also has a number of spaces to store different types of waste separately.
This may be in universal storage boxes with lids to separately store either glass, plastic bottles, waste paper or whichever commodity the particular local authority needs to target.
The stack will consist mainly of a plastic moulding like the conventional wheelie bin, but with a number of moulded spaces to separately store the different types of recyclable waste. This may be in re-usable and interchangeable boxes also made of plastic that may be in different eolours for different waste.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: I;IGURE] shows a side view of the whole recycling stack, and that there is a top compartment for non recyclable waste and compartments lower down for recyclable waste.
FIGURE 2 shows a front view of the stack.
FIGURE 3 shows a top view.
As shown in Figure 1, the stack comprises of a main body], with a lid 2, and an upper compartment 4. The interchangeable boxes 5, slot into runners 6 that are incorporated into the main moulding 1. The whole unit is easily moved around by the handrail 3 and the wheels 7.
Figure 2 shows how the boxes 5 fit into the main moulding 1. The bottom part of the moulding l, will have no floor, just moulded runners for the boxes to fit in. The "real" floor is the bottom of the top compartment 4.
the top compartment of the stack can still be emptied into a refuse wagon in the conventional way by means of opening the lid 2, as shown in Figure 3.
The wheels slot on to a steel axle slotted through the moulding 1 at the rear.
Claims (7)
1. A recycling stack that has spaces for separate storage of different types of recyclable waste.
2. A recycling stack as claimed in Claim 1 where the top compartment can have a lid for safety and hygiene.
3. A recycling stack as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 where there can be storage boxes to fit in a chest of drawers style in the lower part of the main structure.
4. A recycling stack as claimed in Claim 3 that can have a set of wheels on one side enabling easier mobility.
5. A recycling stack as claimed in any preceding claim that can have a handle at the top to push it around.
6. A recycling stack as claimed in any proceeding claim which is made from metal or plastics material or a combination of these materials.
7. A recycling stack substantially as herein described above and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
