Abstract

A greetings card which incorporates a picture post card 2 for use by the recipient. Preferably the post card is integral with the greetings card, and may be detached along lines of weakness 3 or cut out with a scissors along a printed, dotted line. The greetings card may carry an appropriate greeting 1 and may have decorative artwork on its outer surface.

IMPROVEMENTS IN GREETING CARDS
(0001) This invention concerns improvements in or relating to greetings cards.
(0002) In particular the present invention has reference to greetings cards that are used to convey not only a specific greetings message but also a picture post card or post cards for use by the recipient.
(0003) It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved greetings card having the capacity to allow the recipient to use part of the same greetings card as a picture post card.
(0004) According to the invention a greetings card incorporates a picture post card intended to be used by the recipient of the greetings card.
(0005) The picture post card is integral with the greetings card and would be detachable for use by the recipient of the greetings card.
(0006) The detachable picture postcard would be in the form of a section of the greetings card that is removable along suitable lines of weakness, for example perforations. However alternative means of detachment may be employed.
(0007) The greetings card may advantageously carry an appropriate greeting dependent upon the occasion to be celebrated and further the card is preferably presented with artwork of an aesthetic nature on its outer surface or surfaces to confer the usual decorative and attractive appearance.
(0008) The present invention affords the sender of the greeting card the opportunity to purchase in but a single step not only a suitable greetings vehicle but also an integral post card for use by the intended recipient.
(0009) By way of example only, four embodiments of a greeting card according to the invention are described below with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: (0010) Figure 1 is a view of the inside of a first embodiment.
(0011) Figure 2 is a view of the inside of a second embodiment.
(0012) Figure 3 is a view of the outside of a first embodiment.
(0013) Figure 4 is a view of the outside of a second embodiment.
(0014) Since the post card 2 is detachable, the bulk of the greeting card can be retained for sentimental reasons.
(0015) The invention thus provides a greetings card with a dual function in terms of giving the recipient appropriate greetings and a post card to use later.
(0016) In the figures similar features have been given the same reference numerals for ease of identification.
(0017) Referring first to figure 1 there is shown the first embodiment of a greetings card including on the inside surface 4 (the facing surface when the card is opened) a post card 2.
The means of detachment simply comprises a perforated edge 3 around the post card 2 enabling the post card to be pushed out through the greetings card. A normal greeting, in this instance "Happy Birthday", is also included on surface 1.
(0018) Figure 3 shows the outer surface of the embodiment of figure 1. Surface 6 is the front page of the greetings card. Surface 5 is the back page of the greetings card.
7 is the decorative surface of the detachable post card.
(0019) Referring now to figure 2 there is shown the second embodiment of a greetings card including on the inside surface 4 (the facing surface when the card is opened) two post cards 2.
The means of detachment simply comprises a perforated edge 3 around the post cards 2 enabling the post cards to be pushed out through the greetings card. A normal greeting, in this instance "Happy Christmas" is also included on surface 1.
(0020) The surface 1 is provided with sufficient unused space for the sender to provide a personal greeting.
(0021) Figure 4 shows the outer surface of the embodiment of figure 2. Surface 6 is the front page of the greetings card. Surface 5 is the back page of the greetings card The decorative surfaces of the detachable post cards are 7.

Claims (1)

  1. (0001) A greetings card incorporating a picture post card for use by the intended recipient of the greetings card.
    (0002) A greetings card according to claim 1 in which the picture post card is integral with the card.
    (0003) A greetings card according to any one of the preceding claims in which the picture post card is detachable from the greetings card.
    (0004) A greetings card according to claim 3 in which the detachable picture post card is in the form of a section of the card that is removable along suitable lines of weakness or alternatively the picture post card could be cut out with scissors along a printed dotted line.
    (0005) The picture post card is integral with the greetings card and would be detachable for use by the recipient of the greetings card.
    (0006) A greetings card according to any one of the preceding claims in which the greetings card carries an appropriate greeting dependent upon the occasion to be celebrated and the card is presented with artwork of an aesthetic character on its outer surface or surfaces to confer the usual decorative and attractive appearance (0007) A greetings card substantially as herein before described with reference to Figure 1, 2, 3, 4 of the accompanying drawings.
