Abstract

A cylindrical drinking vessel with an electrical heating element (g) has heat retaining properties and is sealable with a lid (b). A battery (and/or external) power source is used to heat the liquid contents, turn on a power on/off indicator (c), temperature (d) and power remaining (f) indicators. The base (e) holds the batteries and optional ingredients for various refreshments and also has a socket for an external power source (g). The device will preferably be made of a lightwieght metal or plastic and there may be a collapsible version (figure 4) which can be compacted (figure 5) for easy transportation and 'sprung' open as needed. A handle may also be added. Operation may be controlled by means of a rotary disc in the lid (figures 3.1 to 3.4).

Description

( 1 Billie cup 2393101 The invention relates to the type of drinking
vessel that holds hot and cold fluids. It has a sealable lid and the electronic means to heat up and retain heat of the contents.
Such means of heating vessels are well known - as are vessels for retaining hoVcold liquids and vessels to drink from but this object allows someone to take a liquid refreshment in a sealed container, transport it from A to B whilst retaining temperature and heaVre-heat as required. There will be no need for additional heating utensils as the unit has heating device built in.
An object of this kind operates in three main modes. It will carry liquid in a sealed container retaining temperature. It will be usable as a resealable drinking vessel. It will be a device for heating/retaining heat in fluids.
Accordingly, this invention provides a sealable drinking vessel with a built in heating device and a means to retain temperature so that it can be transported or used whilst in transit to contain various non-specific fluids.
A compartment in the base will hold the ingredients for the beverages, and also house the power supply. The materials will be a lightweight metal or tough plastic compound, lined for insulation, with rubber seals for the lid. Alternatively, the vessel may be collapsible and incorporate a spring device.
The heating element may be detachable for cleaning purposes. There will be a power remaining indicator, a temperature gauge and on/off indicator. A handle can also be atached.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1. shows a side view of the vessel Figure 2. Shows a side view of the base compartment Figure 3.1 shows lid-disk.
Figure 3.2 shows lid in power don' position.
Figure 3.3 shows lid in'drink' position.
Figure 3.4 shows lid in 'sear' position.
Figure 4. shows a side view of collapsable sided vessel Figure 5. shows a side view of collapsable sided vessel in compressed form
( 2 As shown in figured, the vessel comprises a cylindrical body (a) with fastening lid (b). An example of how this type of lid could work, is given in figures 3.1-3.4. On the side of the body is an on/off device (c) possibly an LED activated by a circuit connection switch held in the lid, and temperature indicator (d) - a heat reactive colour strip. The base (e) houses the power supply (eg. 2 x AAA batteries) and beverage ingredients. There is a power remaining indicator (f) which would be similar to those found on the side of existing batteries. The power source is connected to a heating element (g) which is plugged into the base and held in place with the lid (b). The power derived from batteries of type AAA will not be sufficient to heat a cup of this size to boiling point but something of a similar type may help to retain hot temperatures over longer periods. The main power source (9) used to boil the contents, may come from a cigarette lighter or mains adaptor. Preferably, a modified battery used with the right heating element would be powerful enough to heat the water to boiling point or high enough temperature possibly a few times before needing recharging from the mains/cigarette lighter.
Figure 2. shows where the battery compartment fits into the base (e) allowing enough space for the beverage ingredients. The removable batteries shown could be held in place with a rotatable plastic arm (h) and the ingredients held in place with a removable cover (i). A securing device (j) holds the removable cover (i) in place.
Figure 3.1 shows lid-disk. This fits under the lid and is turnable with switch device (n). Air-holes (o) allow ventilation whilst in power ion' mode and 'drink' mode.
Figure 3.2 shows lid in poweriont mode. Lid rotates allowing element (9) to make connection with 'on' indicator (c) and completes electrical circuit. Air breather holes on lid and lid-disk align (o).
Figure 3.3 shows broken circuit, lid and lid-disk 'spout' (p) and air holes (o) align for 'drink' mode.
Figure 3.4 shows broken circuit, lid and lid-disk spout (p) and air holes (o) mix-aligned for 'sear' mode.
Figure 4. shows how the sides could be collapsible - in this example in the style of a concertina (k) with a spring (L) - which may also act as the heating element as well as to pop vessel into shape.
Element (9) will have to be flexible to allow for vessel compression. A locking device akin to that shown (m) on the lid (b) and base (e) hold the vessel closed when compressed.
Figure 5. shows collapsed form of concertina vessel. Notches on lid and base (m) hold spring (L) and sides (k) compressed.
