Abstract

Walking on water, boats for. - A water boot or ski for enabling persons to walk on water comprises a centre compartment 1. shown in plan view in Fig. 2, for the user's foot having a waterproof cover 2 adapted to be secured tightly round the leg and prevent water from entering the compartment, and two or more buoyant chambers 4, 5 detachably secured to the compartment to assist in supporting the user's weight. Hinged vanes 10, attached to the buoyant chambers by means of clamps 12, are provided to facilitate progress through the water, or a propeller 20, Fig. 4, operated by a treadle 29 in the centre compartment may be provided for this purpose. The treadle is fitted with a rack 30 in engagement with a pinion 31 which drives the propeller shaft 21 through a ratchet or free wheel device, gear wheels 27, 26, and a universal joint 25. The forward movement of the treadle is effected by a spring 32, and a flywheel 28 is provided. The tubular buoyant chambers may be of elliptical cross section.
