Abstract
The easel has a base panel B supported on sloping feet C and a working surface A located on top of the base panel and rotatable in its own plane on a central dowel D which engages a blind hole under the surface. A location pin may be placed through holes to F prevent rotation.
Description
ROTARY EASEL 2392380
My invention relates to a portable rotary easel, using the technique of a central fulcrum between the top and bottom boards, giving a true radial movement.
There are many easels available but they do not have the facility of revolving the surface board carrying the drawing paper, with a central dowel fulcrum providing the turn. The object of having a rotary board, enables the person to rotate FIG 'A' to any position they choose, or lock to fix position using location pin hole FIG 'IF'.
When drawing angular lines, the hand holding the implement being used, tends to cover the line direction, so by turning the top panel FIG 1 'A' the line direction keeps in full view. It benefits both left and right handed persons.
It is ideal when doing water-colours - wet washes can be run into one another by turning the board 'A' as required. Of course the easel can remain locked in the normal position for various uses in drawing requirements - also in the rotary mode for numerous applications needing rotation movement other than as described:- i.e. Painting ceramics ect. For instance.
Once the two tapered feet FIG 3 'C' with pre drilled starter holes 'H' are assembled to the underside of bottom panel FIG 2 'B' using the FOUR (4) screws supplied at points FIG 2 'G', It only remains to position top panel FIG I 'A' with the 12 mm blind hole on underside, over the locating dowel FIG 2 'D'.
The top panel FIG 1 'A' can now revolve to any position, or by using the location pin supplied place into hole 'F' through both panels. The table becomes locked as a standard easel.
Place the TWO (2), tapered feet 'C' on a flat surface as shown on 3 /4 FIG 3. An angle of approximately 15 degrees is obtained to the drawing surface, ready for the person to commence.
The soft sticky pads on both feet FIG 3 'E' are to prevent movement of the easel, also to eliminate marking any surface.
This easel can also be used by the person who prefers pastel drawing materials.
They require their easel more upright to let the pastel dust ect. To fall away from the picture.
So to facilitate this, the same easel is positioned to rest on the flat faces of tapered feet as shown 4 / 4 ' C1', Also having of course the facility to revolve if needed.
Catering for all these uses make this easel a very versatile product.
All materials used are M. D. F. Moisture resistant, and machined to a good standard.
The easel is lightweight and easy to carry.
Claims (1)
- ( 1) A free standing 15 degree angle rotary easel with two (2) tapered feet attached for positioning on a flat surface.(2) A rotary easel using two (2) boards one of which is fixed to the two (2) feet the other which carries the drawing paper rotates a full 360 degrees.(3) A rotary easel which uses a central fulcrum spigot on the one fixed board and a central blind hole in the other so that when the two (2) boards are assembled together the top board can rotate either way.(4) A rotary easel that will help to control the drawing of angular lines etc. using this principal it stops the implement being used impairing line direction.(5) A rotary easel when not required to move can be locked in a normal position using a dowel pin which locates through both boards.(6) A rotary easel which also accommodates the use of pastel materials by positioning the easel using the other faces of the two (2) feet to stand on a flat surface this gives the easel an almost vertical setting which is beneficial to let any pastel dust fall away from the picture surface.(7) A rotary easel which when rotated either way allows wet watercolour washes to run into one another without having to remove the board.(8) Portable, lightweight and easy to use.
