Sample Sachet With Small Dimensions Inserted in a Publication Description of the invention
5 The present invention relates to a sample sachet with small dimensions, which is designed to be inserted in a document such as a publication (magazine) for promotional purposes, consisting of two layers, the surfaces of which that face one another are welded, and in particular are heat sealed such as to delimit a pocket which receives the product to be 1 0 presented.
Prior art
There exist different types of sachets which are formed by two layers 15 which are glued to one another and contain a sample of product which is destined for a promotion, in particular of the advertising type. These sachets are either distributed alone or are inserted in magazines. These sachets have variable sizes, and contain products in paste or liquid form and often also tissues made of a non-woven fabric which are impregnated 20 with a liquid such as a toilet water or a utilitarian product such as a spectacle-cleaning fluid.
These sample sachets often have a rectangular shape, but if they are inserted in a magazine, the dimensions may not be less than 60 x 80 mm.
25 These are the minimal dimensions imposed for technical handling reasons by the attachment machines; the latter secure the sachets to the printed sheets, for example by means of a spot of glue, before the sheets are assembled and cut to constitute the magazine 30 Thus, sachets with small dimensions to be inserted in magazines cannot have any shape other than a rectangular shape, whereas for sachets with large dimensions, the shape can be different from a rectangular shape. It can be a decorative shape, or a shape which imitates that of the real
packaging (container, box, bottle) which contains the object of the promotion. For perfumes the situation is problematic, since the doses can be only 5 very small, owing to the cost of the product. However, very small doses are incompatible with the presentation of a perfume sample sachet with a large size which has the shape of the bottle. In fact there would be conflict between the impression made by the container and the content, which would be detrimental to the advertising effect.
Nor is it advantageous for the product, to produce a sample of perfume in the form of a rectangular sachet, which is designed for the small cavity which receives the sample of perfume.
15 Finally, at present, the promotion of perfumes in magazines is carried out in two forms which are technically possible but disadvantageous: presentation of the sample on a surface which is coated with microcapsules. This surface is itself covered by a an overlay which protects it and can be peeled off. In order to discover the perfume, 20 this overlay is removed and the surface with microcapsules is scratched so as to release the perfume. This presentation has the disadvantage of perfuming the magazine, which in itself can be a drawback, particularly if the perfume is not suitable.
- presentation in the form of a gel contained in a pouch. In this case 25 the perfume is not in its habitual state, and this does not make it attractive. In addition, in both the cases applied at present, the sample is not associated with an image of the packaging which makes an impression on 30 the user.
The object of the present invention is to provide a sample in the form of a pouch with small dimensions, which permits decorative shapes, i.e. shapes which are non-rectangular, which can be inserted in a document
/ such as a magazine, in order to present a sample of liquid, and in particular a perfume, in a form which distinguishes the product.
For this purpose the invention relates to a sample sachet of the type 5 previously defined, characterized in that the sachet with a rectangular format consists of two parts produced in the same assembly with two layers, i.e.: - a support part which is at least partially peripheral; and - a detachable pre-cut part with a contour which Is inserted in the 10 support part and delimits inside the contour of the latter the cavity which receives the product in the form of a sample, the two layers being heat sealed in the support part and the pre-cut part as far as the cavity.
15 The pre-cut and detachable part can have any contour according to the presentation to be imparted to the product or according to the form of its packaging. This pre-cut part constitutes the actual sample; it is detached by the user; according to the securing of the sachet in the magazine by a spot of glue on the support or a spot of glue on the sachet, he detaches 20 the sachet assembly which separates the pre-cut part from the support part or separates only the pre-cut part. This consequently leaves him holding the detached pre-cut part, which will constitute the sole element of presentation of the product. This presentation enhances the product, and the user will associate the image of the packaging of the product with 25 the real form of the packaging. From the point of view of the impression made, this is totally different from an image which is simply printed on a rectangular support.
Particularly advantageously, for presentation in perfume sample sachets, 30 the support part surrounds the pre-cut part entirely.
Since one of the main forms of presentation of the perfumes is a bottle, this presentation integrates perfectly with the limits of the minimum
( rectangular frame which are imposed for reasons of insertion of the sample in a magazine, even if the bottle has a relative small size.
Since the pre-cut contour can be concealed by the contour line of the 5 object such as the bottle with its stopper, it is advantageous to suggest this cutting out to the person who is holding the sample sachet, by means of a visible cut in the two layers, so as to suggest the pre-cutting even if the latter is not visible. The pre-cutting leaves points of attachment which are not cut, between the part which is surrounded by the contour and the 10 support part.
The visible cut is advantageously situated at the level of the line of rupture or opening of the sachet, for example at the join between the bottle and the stopper, since this joining line represented by the lower IS edge of the screwed stopper constitutes the future rupture line. This rupture line is theoretical, and does not take the form of a pre-cut, optionally apart from the starting point of a rupture; it constitutes the line according to which it is preferable to open the sachet. For this purpose, the cavity which is provided in the contour, corresponding to the shape of 20 the bottle, is extended by a duct formed by a non-welded strip which passes through the fictitious line of separation between the stopper and the bottle. This duct makes it possible to distribute the liquid contained in the cavity with a reduced throughput, thus preventing the product from pouring out or from being retained. On the contrary it permits accurate 25 distribution of the product.
Drawings The present invention will be described hereinafter in greater detail by means of an embodiment of a sample sachet represented by the attached 30 drawings, in which: - figure 1 is a plan view of a sample sachet; - figure 2 shows the welded part of the two layers in which the sample sachet is produced; and - figure 3 shows the pre-cut part detached from the sample sachet.
s Description of an embodiment
According to figure 1, the invention relates to a sample sachet with small 5 dimensions of, for example, 60 x 80 mm (minimum format), which is destined to be inserted in a document or a publication such as a magazine, a periodical, etc for advertising or promotional purposes. This sachet is produced by means of two layers, the surfaces of which that face one another are welded, in particular such as to delimit a cavity which 10 receives the sample of product to be presented.
Inside this rectangular frame, which is cut from an assembly with two layers as previously stated, there is a peripheral support part 11 which is included in the rectangular contour of the sachet. Inside this support part 15 11 there is a detachable pre-cut part 12. These two parts are separated by a pre-cut line 2 which leaves securing points 3 which are represented by a short line which is thick in order to be distinguished from the cut 2.
This pre-cut part 12 has a contour which corresponds to the pre-cut line 2. This contour is a contour which is decorative or imitates the form of the 20 silhouette of the real packaging of the product. In the example in figure the contour 2 of the pre-cut part 12 imitates the form of a rounded bottle 121 and its stopper 122 which also has a rounded form. Since the pre-cut line 2 can be concealed by the contour line of the packaging imitated by the part 12, it is advantageous to suggest this pre- cut by means of a 25 visible cut 5 in the form of a small part of sachet cut and removed. This visible cut is advantageously situated at the joining point of the cutting lines of the bottle 121 and its stopper 122, in order to obtain a visible cut 5 with a triangular shape.
30 Although the visible cut 5 is designed to attract attention, it does not disrupt the image and the impression made as a whole Inside the precut contour, a cavity 4 is delimited by its contour 41. This contour 41 is the limit of the welded surface between the two layers which form the sachet (these two layers are not represented as such in the drawings).
( Figure 2 shows by means of a spotted pattern the welded surface between the two layers which form the support part 11, the pre-cut part 12 and the cavity 4. This figure shows that the welded surface of the two layers 5 overlaps the pre-cut line 2.
Figure 3 shows the pre-cut part 12, detached from the sample sachet showing the outline of the bottle. As indicated, this silhouette imitates the true packaging of the product. This pre-cut and detached part 12 also 10 gives an impression and has colours corresponding to the image of the true packaging.
The line of separation 123 between the part 121 which represents the bottle and the part 122 which represents the stopper is the preferential 15 rupture line. This line does not exist, optionally apart from the starting point of a rupture 6 at the join of the cutting contour between the bottle part 121 and the stopper part 122. This starting point of a rupture 6 can be limited to the angular join between these two contour lines at the start of the theoretical rupture line 123 or by the starting point of an actual 20 rupture which cuts into the welded surface between the cut contour 2 and the edge 41 of the cavity 4.
This figure 3 also shows the extension of the cavity 4 by a duct 42 formed by a non-welded strip which passes through the fictitious line of 25 separation 123 between the bottle 121 and the stopper 122.
Thus, in order to use the sachet, either all of the sample sachet assembly 1 is detached from the magazine, or only the pre-cut part 12 is detached, according to the location of the point(s) of securing between the sample 30 sachet 1 and the page of the magazine, depending on whether this/these securing points is/are situated on the rear surface of the support part 11 or of the pre-cut part 12 or on both at once.
After having detached the sample sachet 1 from the magazine, the support part 11 is removed, which may contain instructions or be coloured or have a neutral appearance in order to emphasise better the pre-cut part 12.
After having separated the pre-cut part 12, the sachet can then be opened, preferably by tearing along the theoretical rupture line 123, which corresponds to a gesture suggested by the form of the part 12, the bottle 121 and the stopper 122. This gesture is similar to a gesture of lo unscrewing the stopper 122.
Owing to the duct 42, the product contained in the cavity 4 can then be removed in a small quantity, in a measured manner.
15 The sample sachet is preferably produced using the habitual materials for the manufacture of sample sachets, in other words a film of substance covered with a heat-sealable film or layer on the surfaces which face one another or a substance which itself is heat-sealable, in order to produce the welded surface between the two layers (see figure 2).
