Abstract
A bed frame includes a top rectangular frame (1) connected to a bottom rectangular frame (2) by supporting pillars (3). Preferably the bars (4) are attached to top rectangular frame at defined distances. These bars (4) are designed to hold the divan base of the bed securely to the rigid elevated bed base.
Description
( 1 RIGID ELEVATED BED FAME
lbe invention relates to a type of bed frame that is rigid and elevated, it is a self-
supporting structure and is free standing.
Bed frames are widely used. But this invention allows the head of the bed to be elevated. It is common for persons who require the head of the bed to be raised for whatever reason (medical or to alleviate the problem of snoring to place bricks or blocks under the bed head. This puts an undue strain on the divan base causing the divan base of the bed to become unstable and to fail over a period of time. This type of bed elevation is different as the head of the bed is placed into an elevated position and is also supported firmly. There are supporting bars that are so designed to allow the feet/castors to lock into the top of the bed frame holding the divan base firmly to the bed frame.
The head of the bed is higher than the foot7 it is beneficial to anyone suffering from gastro-medical conditions such as Reflux or Oesophagitis.
The head of the bed is raised and this allows the gastric acids in the stomach to naturally remain in the digestive tracts.
This is also of benefit to people who have problems in breathing at night, eg snoring, as the person is forced to lie with their upper body in an elevated position.
Accordingly, this invention provides a rigid bed frame, which is elevated at the head end of the bed.
Preferably the bed frame is made of wood, this can be either stained or painted to match the decor of the bedroom, but it can also be made either of metal or of pre-
formed plastic.
A preferred embodiment of this invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which, Figure 1 shows the side/end plan Figure 2 shows the other end plan Figure 3 shows the top plan Figure 4 shows the side plan
( 2 As shown in Figure 1 the bed frame comprises of two rectangle frames held apart by supporting pillars (3) connecting the bottom frame (2) to the top frame (1).
The supporting pillars (1) are arranged with the tallest to the head end of the bed and the shortest to the foot end of the bed.
Figure 2 shows the end plan, which is of a rectangular design, this is of the highest end of the bed frame.
Figure 3 shows the top plan, this is also of a rectangular design, this incorporates the bars (4) these are connected to the side rails (1). These bars (4) are set at defined distances to allow the feet of the bed divan to fit between them, therefore securing the divan base to the elevated bed frame.
Figure 4 shows the side view, this is of a triangular design, it incorporates the base rail (2) and shows the supporting pillars (3) connected to and the side rails (1) with the highest pillar at the head end of the frame.
The base of the rigid bed frame is made in a rectangular design, also the top of the bed frame is of a rectangular design.
The two rectangles are held apart by the supporting pillars laid out in a triangular formation. Between the sidebars of the top rectangle are another series of bars. These bars are set at predefined distances, this will allow the castors or feet of the bed divan/base, to be placed on top of the bed frame.
The two feet/castors of the foot end of the divan base will have to be removed.
This will allow the foot of the bed to be held onto the bed frame at the correct angle.
With the divan base of the bed locked into the bed frame the mattress can then be placed on top of the divan base.
With the mattress on top divan base it will place the head of the bed into a raised position. The foot of the bed will be in a depressed position.
This will afford the sleeper with the sleeping position that is suitable for their medical condition.
