Abstract
The device comprises a block of ice containing a dye which acts as a warning if the block defrosted, the dye dispersing into, e.g. food packaging to colour its contents to show that they had been subject to thaw temperatures for an extended period of time. The dye is in liquid form in the block; alternatively it can be of solid form, but be in liquid form above the ice thaw point.
Description
FOOD DEFROST SAFETY DYE
The invention relates to a method of ensuring that food has not been whilst in transit, storage or on display or whilst in transportation to the point where it will be used.
The invention relates to a dye solution which would be contained within a calculated, quantity of frozen water so that if the frozen water should melt (which would indicate that the otherhad also been subject to a significant degree of defrost activity) then the dye would be released and colour the food contents so that it could be recognised that there had been that level of defrost.
The dye solution could either be liquid or solid within the frozen water but should be liquid at temperatures above freezing to allow it to spread throughout the contents of the container which it is protecting.

- CLAIMS: FOOD DEFROST SAFETY DYEI. A device which is a dye substance contained within frozen ice
- 2. A device which when subjected to above freezing temperatures for sustained periods of time would defrost causing its contents to colour any surrounding items or items in close contact with it 3 A device which if maintained at below freezing would remain intact 4. A device which would act as an alarm to show whether any defrosting had occurred in any receptacle that it is placed in
