Abstract

A releasable restrictor device for releasably restricting the extent of movement of a closure such as a window movably mounted with a frame. The releasable restrictor includes an arm (12) coupled to a slide mounted within a housing (19). The housing (19) has a mounting (10) to permit the housing to be mounted to the closure or frame. An engagement element (11) is provided and with which the arm (12) is releasably engageable. A release element, for example a key (39) is selectively engageable with the slide to cause the arm (12) to move, relative to the engagement element (11), to a release position. Following this any relative movement between the housing (19) and the engaement element (11) results in disengagement of the arm (12) from the engagement element (11).
