Inkstands; fountain-pen fillers.-An ink bottle or like container comprises a chamber A, Fig. 1, disposed above the body part C<1> of the bottle and below its neck or outlet C, and a trap, such as a perforated plug B separating the chamber from the body part, which allows ink to pass into the chamber A when the bottle is inverted and shaken, the perforations being of such a size that, when the bottle, is turned upright, the major portion of the ink in the chamber will remain there for a time sufficient, for instance, to fill a self-filling fountain pen from it. The perforations may be replaced by serrations or vertical grooves at the edge of the plug end a constriction in the neck or a recess in it may retain the plug in position. In modifications, the chamber comprises a rubber tube secured on the outlet of the bottle, or the chamber A, Fig. 5, is formed in part by the bottle neck and in part by a rubber tubular member C. As shown in Fig. 6, the chamber A is separate from the bottle, its narrow opening B<1> being formed by a tube which is inserted in the bottle stopper D.
