Abstract
An exercise stand for a bicycle comprises a wooden base D, to which are fixed two supporting stands F and two height adjustable stands G to accommodate different sizes of bicycle. A support strut A is fixed to the top of each of the adjustable stands to support the bicycle. Straps and buckles B are provided to fasten the bicycle in place during use. Preferably a wheel E engages the rear wheel and provides resistance during use.
Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
DUAL CYLING This invention relates to a device that would enable a conventional bicycle to be easily converted to a stationary exercise bike.
The primary benefits offered by the Dual Cycling device would be convenience and cost savings. Stationary bicycles that are used as a part of a keep fit regimen are, of course, already commonly available. Similarly, conventional bicycles are also widely used throughout the world. However, stationary exercise bikes tend to be rather expensive and, of course, can only be used as a keep fit tool. Regular bicycles offer the advantage of providing transportation as well as exercise and are typically less expensive that stationary exercise bikes. The downside of conventional bikes is that their use is somewhat weather dependent and a suitable area is required in which to ride them.
The Dual Cycling device would correct these shortcoming by enabling the person to enjoy the advantages offered by an indoor stationary bicycle yet with the flexibility to still use the bicycle in its traditional role when desired.
To accomplish this, the Dual Cycling device would be made from steel or aluminum and would consist of a frame mounted on a wooden base into which a conventional bicycle would be placed that would result in the rear wheel being suspended. Two keys would be provided to adjust the height so that the device could be used with any sized bicycle. A small wheel would be used to adjust the speed at which the rear wheel rotates thus allowing the user to set the resistance to a desire level. The bicycle could be easily removed from this device should the user wish to take the bike outdoors and ride it in the conventional manner.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the whole Dual Cycling device and its main features.
Figure 2 shows an actual bike fixed into the Dual Cycling device.
As shown in Figure 1, the device comprises a wooden base (D) on to which the device is mounted. Two parallel supporter's legs (F) to hold the weight of the bicycle. The bike support struts (A) on to which the bike is fixed. A pair of safety buckles for each support struts (B) to safely secure the bike on to the support struts. The height adjuster one for each leg (C) so that the device could be used with any sized of bicycle fixed with the help of the height adjustable stands (G), and the speed adjustment wheel (E) to adjust the resistance level of the exercise.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
To add up figure 2 shows a side view of the complete state of a bicycle mounted on the base (D) of the device. We can see how the bicycle is safely fixed on to the bike support struts (A) with the safety buckles to tighten the bike to the struts (B), and the rear wheel resting on the speed adjustment wheel (E). As we can see, the whole weight of the body of the bike is supported by the supporting stands (F), and that the height of the bicycle has been adjusted with the height adjustable stands (G) with the height adjuster (C). This figure 2 shows the bicycle ready to be use as an exercise bike and also ready to be removed whenever necessary to be use as a normal bike.
Claims (7)
- CLAIMS 1. The exercise Cycling device including two steel legs fixed to a wooden base, it has two BIKE SUPPORT STRUTS mounted on the two HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE STANDS that can be used to mountain the bike on them and there are two SAFETY BUCKLES that fix and tightened the bike to the two SUPPORT STRUTS.
- 2. A device as claimed in Claim 1 where the two SUPPORTING STANDS include BIKE SUPPORT STRUTS placed on the top of each HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE STANDS.
- 3. A device as claimed in Claim I where the HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE STANDS include SAFETY BUCKLES attached below each of the BIKE SUPPORT STRUTS that holds the rear side of the bike to the BIKE SUPPORT STRUTS very tight.
- 4. A device as claimed in Claim 1 where the HEIGHT ADJUSTMENTS fitted on each side of the SUPPORTING STANDS allowing different size of bikes to be fitted to.
- 5. A device as claimed in Claim 1 where the SPEED ADJUSTMENT WHEEL is fitted on the WOODEN BASE allows the users to adjust resistance level of exercise
- 6. A device as claimed in Claim I where the two SUPPORTING STANDS and the SPEED ADJUSTMENT WHEEL is screwed to the WOODEN BASE which stabilise the bike while exercising.
- 7. A device substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
