Abstract

A muscle healer comprising pads incorporating heating elements, which may also have a massaging effect. The pads are preferably shaped to fit the knee, thigh, back, stomach, elbows and shoulder. The muscle healer may be operated by a control box to direct the flow of massage to the body. The flow may be adjusted to provide pulsing or circular movement in various directions to suit the muscle. The muscle healer may be used for relieving muscle injuries, pain, arthritis, or to improve circulation.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
I. CHAPTER ONE : PRODUCTION A. DESCRIPTION 1. General Description of the Product The product being considered, as conceived by Ron Richardson, is The Muscle Healer. The concept calls for the manufacture and distribution of a device to be used for relieving a variety of physical afflictions using a directed flow of heat and a massage-like action.
To accomplish this, The Muscle Healer would be configured as shown in the accompanying illustration. The device is intended for use by athletes who have suffered pulled muscles, sprains, or other muscle-related injuries. It would also be suitable for use by anyone who is experiencing back pains or muscular discomforts in other parts of the body The heating and massage action could be employed for warming up tired muscles, to improve blood circulation, to relieve menstrual cramps, reduce painful affects of arthritis, etc. It would be powered by a control box which would control the direction of the heat to specially designed pads. These pads would be formed to accommodate various areas of the body such as a strap-style pad for the Achilles tendon, calf and thigh; another strap pad sized to be placed over the forearm, bicep, or shoulder; and another pad for the upper and lower back areas and the spine. The user would be able to control the direction of heat; upward, downward, diagonally, in a circular motion, or pulse mode to best suit the specific injury or affliction. This would not only provide the user with a source of heat therapy but would also help focus his or her internal body energy on the injured area The back pad would direct the heat as a trickling effect, going down the spine, which would deliver a relaxing sensation while also warming the nerves which should relieve arthritic symptoms throughout the body. An abdominal warmer could be used to alleviate menstrual cramps and a foot pad could be included to provide a heat massage to the nerve endings in the feet. Each pad would contain a small chip which would be programmed to direct the flow of heat according to each of the five available settings.
With this configuration, The Muscle Healer would serve as a functional device to relieve a variety of physical discomforts through this combination of heat and flowing massage-like action.
