Abstract

A domestic tap can be easily be inserted into a base which incorporates a valve 4 preventing the flow of water when the tap is not present. The valve 4 is sprung against a lip 9 when closed, but is depressed by an actuator 7 when the tap is present. Water can then flow through perforations in a valve cage 6 and around actuator 7. The tap is sealed to the base by a rubber O ring 2 and pressure spring 3 in a groove in the base. The tap can be fitted or changed without tools or turning off the water supply by a bayonet type arrangement comprising cooperating grooves and lugs 1. The base may be fitted to, or moulded integrally to a bath, basin or sink. Appliances such as washing machines, dish washers or garden hoses may also be attached to the base in place of the tap. The base may have a speed fit connector (5, fig 1).

EASY FIT TAP THE INVENTION APPLIES INITIALLY TO BATH AND BASIN TAPS IN DOMESTIC BATHROOMS TAPS ARE OBVIOUSLY IN EVERYDAY USE AND ARE TAKEN FOR GRANTED BY THE USER HOWEVER THE PLUMBER OR ANY OTHER PERSON WHO HAS TO FIT THEM APPRECIATES THAT THIS CAN BE RATHER DIFFICULT AND TIME CONSUMING IN VIEW OF THIS FITTING PROBLEM I CAME UP WITH THE FOLLOWING DESIGN ALTHOUGH THE ACTUAL APPEARANCE CAN TAKE THE FORM OF ANY EXISTING TAP THE METHOD OF FITTING IS VERY MUCH DIFFERENT THE WHOLE IDEA IS TO SAVE A LARGE AMOUNT OF TIME AND EFFORT AND TO MAKE FITTING AND CHANGING OF TAPS QUICK AND SIMPLE.
THE BODY OF THE TAP WILL BE IN TWO SECTIONS. THE BASE AND THE TAP THE BASE WILL IDEALLY BE MOULDED INTO THE THE VESSEL e bath basin sink) IT IS DESIGNED TO SERVE THE SECTION WILL HAVE A TAIL COMPATIBLE TO CONNECT TO A SPEED FIT CONNECTOR OF THE REQUIRED SIZE.

TO COMPENSATE FOR THIS AND TO PROVIDE A WATER TIGHT SEAL i HAVE INSTALLED A PROTRUDING'O'RING SEAL 2 IN A MACHINED GROOVE IN THE BASE SECTION WHICH IS PUSHED INTO A CORRESPONDING GROOVE. 8. IN THE BASE OF THE TAP ASSISTED BY A PRESSURE SPRING. 3. IN A GROOVE BENEATH 0 RING 2 TO ALLOW THE PASSAGE OF WATER WHEN THE VALVE IS OPEN. IC THE TWO PARTS ARE CONNECTED, BOTH THE VALVE ACTUATOR. 7 AND VALVE CAGE 6 ARE PERFORATED THE VALVE CAGE. 6. INCORPORATES A PRESSURE SPRING. 5 WHICH PUSHES UP THE
T VALVE. 4 AGAINST LIP. 9. AT THE NECK OF THE CAGE WHEN WHEN THE VALVE IS IN THE CLOSED POSITION. WHEN THE ACTUATOR. 7. IS PUT IN POSITION IT PUSHES DOWN THE VALVE AND OPENS UP THE WATER PASSAGEWAY INTO THE TAP BODY THROUGH THE PERFORATED CAGE 6 AND ACTUATOR. 7 THE TAP iS NOW READY TO BE OPERATED IN THE CONVENTIONAL WAY

THE TAP WILL TAKE THE APPEARANCE OF AND OPERATE LIKE ANY CONVENTIONAL TAP HOWEVER THE ACTUAL FITTING OF THIS TAP WILL BE QUICK AND SIMPLE WITHOUT THE NEED TO TURN OFF THE WATER SUPPLY INFACT A CHILD COULD CHANGE IT IN SECONDS.
THE TAP WILL HAVE AN INNER RING AT THE BOTTOM WHICH WHEN THE TAP IS LOCATED IN THE BASE LOCATING GROOVES BY THE TAP LOCATING LUGS AND PUSHED DOWN WILL OPEN THE VALVE IN THE BASE THE TAP IS THEN TWISTED UNTIL THE LUGS HAVE TRAVELLED THE LENGTH OF THE GROOVES AND COME TO REST IN THE FIXED POSITION THE TAP IS NOW OPERATED IN THE USUAL WAY I ENCLOSE 2 DRAWINGS WITH THIS DESCRIPTION SHOWING KEY FEATURES
