Abstract

A rotary furnace (20) includes a drum (40) and a frame (22) supporting the drum for rotation about a nominally horizontal rotational axis. The frame (22) and the drum (40) are supported for pivotal movement about a horizontal pivotal axis. A door (46) supported on the frame (22) normally closes the front end of the drum (40) and is selectively pivotal to an open position to facilitate charging of the drum (40). The door (46) includes a pouring door (82) which is openable to facilitate discharge of molten material from the drum (40).

Description

(57) A rotary furnace (20) includes a drum (40) and a frame (22)
supporting the drum for rotation about a nominally horizontal rotational axis. The frame (22) and the drum (40) are supported for pivotal movement about a horizontal pivotal axis. A door (46) supported on the frame (22) normally closes the front end of the drum (40) and is selectively pivotal to an open position to facilitate charging of the drum (40). The door (46) includes a pouring door (82) which is openable to facilitate discharge of molten material from the drum (40).
