Abstract

A wheelchair stand and bow support to enable a disabled person to take part in archery. The stand comprises a platform, a bow support, and a bow. The bow may be cocked, aimed by use of hand grips and a laser sight, and fired using a trigger mechanism.

Description A disabled person sits in a wheelchair on the stand/stabaliser. A carer/helper will pull the bow string back to the cocking mechanism and put the arrow in place. The disabled person can then switch on the laser, hold the hand grips and move the archery equaliser until the laser dot is in the centre of the target, then pull the trigger mechanism which will release the arrow and the arrow will hit the target where the laser dot is.

  1. Claims 1. The bow, arrow and laser are not new but the idea of connecting them together the way the equaliser does using the hand grips to move the arrow up, down, left or right, using the cocking mechanism-which I made myself-then using the trigger mechanism to release the arrow is new.
