Abstract

A moulded plastic frame for the display of illuminated paintings incorporates a lighting unit for connection to the mains supply. In use original paintings or prints are produced on clear plastic panels which are inserted into the frame and back lit. The whole unit may be wall mounted.

Description

(1) ILLUMINATED PAINTING FRAME This invention relates to a frame for illuminated paintings.
Stained glass, based on light filtering through transparent coloured panels, has been around for some 1,000 years. There is currently a revival of this art for use in both Church and domestic windows.
There is no evidence, however, to suggest that this principle has ever been applied to original paintings.
The invention comprises a moulded plastic frame and lighting unit for connection to the main electricity supply. Provision is made for the insertion of clear plastic panels, which are back-lit.
Original paintings are produced on the panels in transparent paint. Prints are reproduced onto the panels by the Silkscreen process, using transparent inks.
The whole unit is wall-hung.

Claims (3)

  1. (2) CLAIMS 1. A moulded plastic frame incorporating a lighting unit for connection to the mains supply.
  2. 2 The frame as Claim 1, together with a lighting unit with provision for wall hanging.
  3. 3. A complete frame and lighting unit as described herein to display illuminated paintings as Figs 1-4 in accompanying drawings.
