Abstract

The two halves of a duvet for a double bed have different amounts of filling. Separation is maintained by a line of stitching or fasteners down the middle of the cover.

DESCRIPTION * This invention relates to improvements in relation to duvets for double beds of any type.

'Duvets are well known and used by a high percentage of the population to keep themselves warm at night. However when sharing a double bed one person is normally too cold or too hot when the other person is comfortable. Men and women tend to have different body temperatures. This could be due to poor circulation/cold feet, the menopause or even illness.

* The two halves of the duvet are made of differing tog (thickness of filling) e. g., One side could be 10.5 tog and the other 15 tog or one side could be 10.5 tog and the other 5 tog (or any other combination of tog). The tog preferable to the couple concerned could then be chosen.

'The duvet filling of polyester/fibre, duck/goose down, feather or any other suitable filling is then put into the duvet cover as normal. This can be done by the lower of the two togs having an additional half placed on top to increase the thickness, see Figure 1. The duvet is then sealed by a cover from the outside across all four sides and sporadically within the duvet taking care where the extra thickness meets in the middle. When the duvet is sealed, preferable by stitching but Velcro or poppers would also work, there is a need to cross over the middle to ensure movement/folding does not occur, avoiding discomfort, see Figure 2. Alternatively the filling can be placed into two halves of the cover separately, to the desired tog.

Separation is maintained by stitching, Velcro or poppers down the middle of the cover.

Claims (4)

1. CLAIMS 1) An improvement in relation to duvets for double beds of any type. A duvet sealed from the outside consisting of two different togs on each side. The two halves of the duvet consist of two different thickness of filling. An additional half placed on top to increase thickness sealed by stitching, Figure 1 or a cover stitched down the middle with the two sides filled with differing thickness, depending on the filling used.
2. 2) An improvement in relation to duvets as claimed in claim 1 wherein double bed of any type means the entire double bed range, i. e. , from a standard double bed to emperor size and any specially constructed beds.
3. 3) An improvement in relation to duvets as claimed in claim 1 wherein middle means the join of the two fillings in the centre to the outside of the duvet.
4. 4) An improvement in relation to duvets substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1-2 of the accompanying drawings.
