Heels.- A wooden heel for a boot or shoe has one more sinuous, zig-zag, or corrugated strips a of metal forced or inserted edgewise into one or more faces of the heel so as to lie across the grain and thus act as a tie to bind and hold the fibres and prevent the wood heel from splitting.
