Abstract
236,617. Thies, B. K. April 3, 1924. Circulating fluids through materials; cop type; foam, treatment with.-In a process for suction dyeing textiles with sulphur dyes. the dye is first sucked through the material to be dyed; frothing is then produced. in the bath, which contains saponaceous material, and then the froth containing the material is sucked away before air for oxidation is admitted. The material to be dyed is placed in a vat 1 connected bv a four-way cock 2 to pipes 3, 6, 7 and the dye liquor is contained in a container 13 provided with a pump 10. The dye bath is first pumped from the container through pipes 6, and cock 2 to the vessel 1 and thence through pipes 3 and 7 back to the centainer 13. After a time the cock 12 is opened and a portion of the liquor pumped into an upper container 14. The cock 9 is now reversed and the dye bath flowing from the container 1 passes into the pipe 20 and thence into the upper part of the vessel 13 where it is thrown against the partition 21 and converted into froth which passes through the pipe 6 to the container 1. A portion of the froth passes up the pipe 15 into the container 14. The cock 8 is now closed and the remainder of the froth pumped through the pipe 11 into the container 14. The pump 10 is now stopped and the cock 12 closed. The vessel 1 now contains froth at less than atmospheric pressure. The air cock 21, cover 22 and cock 17 are now opened and the froth sucked away from the material. After all the froth is removed the valves are closed to prevent air reaching the dye liquor and the material removed from the vat 1.
