Incrustation, preventing.- To prevent the formation of crystals and the deposition of incrustation in boilers and like vessels, the walls of a vessel are subjected to the action of a constant, varying or intermittent magnetic field. Simultaneously, a constant, varying or intermittent weak electric current may be passed through the walls of the vessel. Electromagnets are secured to the end plates of a horizontal boiler. Solenoids are placed a.round the downcomer tubes of a water-tube boiler and around the furnace flue of a Cornish boiler.
