Abstract

A lock has a casing housing a locking member or members which can be latch bolt 20, deadbolt 21 and/or drive rods 22, 23 for remote locking.. Two operating mechanisms are provided which are separately operable from respective opposite sides of the casing to allow the locking member to be moved between locking and unlocked positions. A key-operated lock (not shown) is inserted through holes 72 and which, when operated with the locking member in the locked position, moves a single actuating member 73 to operate the operating mechanisms to move the locking member to the unlocked position. In addition, the locking member may be movable into the unlocked position by a selected one of the operating mechanisms, selection means being provided which are operable without removing the selection means from the casing. The lock may include a spring mechanism 27 acting on the operating mechanisms where the compressing of the springs provides a force tending to return the operating mechanism to the central position.
