Abstract

Music is distributed to local electronic jukeboxes from a central location. The jukeboxes include secure hardware to decrypt and encrypt music and monetary certificate to prevent improper use or copying of music. In particular the hardware includes means which decrypts an incoming signal, further encrypts the data produced by the first decryption and then performs a second decryption on the further encrypted data. The further encryption only takes place if a necessary credit level is attained. The hardware further includes a device for authenticating a decrypted data package.
