Abstract
236,151. Allgemeine Vergasungs- Ges. June 24, 1924, [Convention date]. Coking processes.-In coking bituminous coal in stages, the charge is first heated to a temperature below that at which it cakes or becomes pasty, for example 335‹ C., for a period long enough to remove all constituents volatile at that temperature, and the temperature is then raised gradually in stages of 25‹ C. The process may be carried out in continuous vertical retorts by passing inert gas, initially at a temperature of 500‹ C., upwards through the charge, and regulating the quantity of coke discharged.
