Abstract

An adaptor which is designed to make removal and replacement of a lamp easier and safer for the user. Part A will fit into an existing lamp holder whilst pad B will accept a 'standard' lamp. The two parts slot together, coupling being maintained by magnetic discs (7 and 13) on both pads. Electrical continuity is achieved by connection between sprung metal contacts (8 and 9) recessed in pad A and concentric conductive metal contacts (14 and 15) on part B.

Description

DESCRIPTIO
An adaptor for a 1 standard' lamp holder to case removal of the lamp and improve user safely An adaptor for a 'standard' lamp holder to ease removal of the lamp and improve user safety; comprising two parts, (A & B), primarily made of a plastic insulating material of any kind.
Part A comprises a male bayonet fitting (1) or a male screw fitting (2) at the top suitable to fit into an existing 'standard' lamp holder, with conductive metal contact points (3 & 4 or 5 & 6). A magnetic disc (7) and sprung conductive metal contacts (8 & 9) are situated at the base and the contacts (8 & 9) are enclosed in an insulating material (10) with concentric slots (25 & 26) cut into it to allow access. The contacts (8 & 9) are connected to contact points (3 & 4 or 5 & 6) by internal conductive wire links (11 & 12).
Part B comprises a magnetic disc (13) of the same dimensions as the magnetic disc (7) in part A with two concentric conductive metal contacts (14 & 15) at the top. The magnetic disc (13) and contacts (14 & 15) are mounted on an insulating material and are positioned so as to coincide with the positions of the magnetic disc (7) and contact pins (8 & 9) via the slots (25 & 26) in part A when the two parts are fitted together. A female bayonet fitting (17) or a female screw fitting (18) is situated at the base to accept a 'standard' lamp with conductive metal contact points (19 & 20 or 21 & 22) connected to the contacts (14 & 15) by internal conductive wire links (23 & 24).
1. An adaptor for a 'standard' lamp holder to ease removal and replacement of the lamp and improve user safety comprising two parts primarily made of a plastic insulating material.
2. An adaptor for a 'standard' lamp holder as claimed in claim 1 wherein the upper part is designed to fit into a standard bayonet or screw fitting lamp holder.
3. An adaptor for a 'standard' lamp holder as claimed in claim 1 wherein the lower part is designed to accept a standard bayonet cap or screw fitting lamp.
4. An adaptor for a 'standard' lamp holder as claimed in preceding claims wherein coupling of the upper and lower parts is maintained by magnetic discs on both parts.
5. An adaptor for a 'standard' lamp holder as claimed in preceding claims wherein electrical continuity is provided by sprung conductive metal contacts in the upper part which coincide with concentric conductive metal contacts on the lower part.
6. An adaptor for a 'standard' lamp holder as claimed in preceding claims wherein the contacts in the upper part are recessed in an insulating material to ensure user safety.
7. An adaptor for a 'standard' lamp holder substantially as described herein with reference to all aspects of the accompanying drawing.
