Abstract
235,426. Oppenheim, A. Sept. 2, 1924. Buckles.-A buckle for garment supporters and the like comprises a back frame 21, Fig. 3, of wire, with a free edge having stepped portions 24 adjacent the ends. A clamping lever 22 pivoted to the frame at 29 has a tongue 28 with a similarly stepped free edge 30 which, in the clamping position shown in Fig. 2, projects beyond the free edge of the frame and clamps and wedges the webbing 36 of the support between the opposed sides of the steps and the portion between the steps. One end of the webbing is provided with a metal clip 39 of less width than the space between the sides of the frame at the top so that it may be inserted, but wider than the frame at the bottom so that it may not be readily retracted. An alternative form in which the back frame is made of sheet metal is shown in Fig. 13, the webbing in this case being attached to the frame by means of teeth 51, 52, Fig. 17, on a doubled back portion of the back frame.
