Abstract

A frame-less picture stand is attached to the back of a photo, or the like, by an adhesive portion 4. The picture stand is then folded about a hinge 3 in order to support the photo in a substantially upright position. An aperture 5 may be provided to permit the insertion of the coin which, when inserted, prevents the stand from falling forward.

Description

FRAMELESS PICTURESTAND This invention relates to a Frameless Picturestand.
The purpose of the Frameless Picturestand is to provide an extremely low cost and simple method of displaying images such as cards, photos or any other such flat item (henceforth referred to as 11presentation sheet") in a way that looks stylish and provides a promotional opportunity. The Frameless Picturestand allows the presentation sheet to be set, free standing, on any flat surface.
The Frameless Picturestand could be made out of cardboard, card, metal, plastic, wood, any other suitable material or a combination of materials, henceforth referred to as "constructing material". The size of the stand could vary depending on the size of the presentation sheet.
There are various promotional possibilities. For example: Several of these products could be given away free with developed holiday photos. An advert with the address of the developer and/or other information, could be printed on one or both sides of the Picturestand. Several Frameless Picturestands could be provided in one oblong length of constructing material (fig 5), separated by perforations, partial scoring or other similar device.
According to the present invention there is provided a stand for a presentation sheet comprising a first adhesive portion for attachment to the presentation sheet and a second stand portion extending from the first portion to retain the presentation sheet upright, made from any suitable material. This would include an aperture in the stand portion for mounting a weight.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing:
Made from a piece of constructing material, it is essentially a right angle triangle in shape, with the two approximately equal length sides I & 2. Depending on whether or not the triangle was an exact right angle, the presentation sheet would be secure and stand either at perfect right angles to the surface on which it was placed, or with a slight lean back. Its three distinguishing features are:
[i] A crease mark or hinge 3 parallel to one edge of the right angle triangle [not the hypotenuse] about I cm or so in from the edge 1. [ii] An adhesive portion 4, such as a peel away sticky strip, for easy adhesion to the back of the presentation sheet, running between the crease 3 and the edge of the first portion 1. [iii] An aperture 5 at the comer furthest from the adhesive portion the size of easily available small coinage (such as a one penny piece or low denomination ECU in the case of the UK market).
To assemble, the presentation sheet would be folded along the crease mark or hinge so that the adhesive portion would be at a right angle plane to the stand portion. A one penny piece, or similar item, would be pushed, flush, into the aperture. The adhesive portion would be attached to a presentation sheet so that the stand portion protruded at fight angles to the presentation sheet. The base of the stand portion would be on the same plane as the base of the presentation sheet.
The presentation sheet could then be stood on a flat surface, with the one penny piece, or similar item, being ballast ensuring it would not fall forward (fig 2).
Examples of additions to the stand: (a) The stand would be as described above but with an additional cross strut 6 (fig 3). This would slide into a slot in the second stand portion directly adjacent to the first adhesive portion and reduce warping of the presentation sheet. (b) The stand would be substantially as described above but with an adapted first adhesive portion 7 covering a greater area of the reverse of the presentation sheet (fig 4).

Claims (1)
