Abstract

235,329. Creffield, T. R. March 25, 1924. Axles.-For converting the rear axle into a floating axle, a sleeve extension 1 fitting the axle casing carries a roller bearing 2 for the wheel hub which is secured to the outer end 9 of the axle by a flanged cap 8, and the roller bearing is secured upon the sleeve 1 between washers 3, 4 held in place by a spring ring 5. The washer 4 engages the edges of the inner flange 11 of the wheel hub to prevent the wheel coming off the sleeve if the axle breaks.
