Abstract
Racket strings can be coated by a solvent or adhesive especially at some or all of their crossover points so that the racket strings in use do not move relative to each other.
Description
LOW VIBRATION SPORTS RACKET chips invention relates to a stringweld sports racket.
A number of sports are played with rackets constructed by tensioning strings on a frame. In the stringweld racket the strings are joined at the crossover points thus preventing any significant relative movement of the strings when the ball is struck.
The strings can either be joined by an adhesive applied over the main body of the strings or can be specifically joined at each crossover point. The principal advantages of welding the strings is that less injury causing vibration is transmitted to the arm and also that the strings last about three times as long. Other advantages may include increased power, control and spin.
Some tennis players use string savers which are small pieces of plastic placed at the crossover points on the strings. These prolong string life to some extent because they prevent the cross strings cutting grooves in the main strings. They do not however prevent the relative movement of the strings.
According to the present invention there is provided a stringweld sports racket whereby the strings are joined at many or all the crossover points by means of some type of adhesive, solvent, glue or other method.
One method of making this invention is to place a small drop of super glue on each of the crossover points and then agitate the racket to allow the glue to fill the cracks by capillary action. The racket should then be turned occasionally as the glue dries to produce a neat and even finish.
Claims (3)
- CLAIMS 1 A stringweld sports racket whereby the strings are joined at many or all the crossover points by means of some type of adhesive, solvent, glue or other method.
- 2 A racket as claimed in claim 1 whereby the the strings are joined by applying adhesive on or around the crossover points.
- 3 A racket as claimed in claim 1 whereby the strings are joined by applying adhesive over the whole body of the strings.
