Abstract
A flat type loud-speaker includes a rectangular iron plate (1) having two conductor terminals (11, 12) for electric power input, a plurality of elongated magnets (13) arranged in a parallel manner on the iron plate (1) between the conductor terminals (11, 12), a diaphragm (14) press-formed subject to the configuration of the magnets (13) and mounted on the rectangular iron plate (1) over each of the magnets, and a winding (15) wound on the diaphragm round each of the magnets, forming multiple voice coils.
Description
Title: FLAT TYPE LOUD-SPEAKER This invention relates to speakers, and more particularly to a flat type loudspeaker which is formed of multiple voice coils and which eliminates distortion and achieves high performance.
A speaker for a radio or audio equipment is generally comprised of a circular magnetic member, a winding wound round the magnetic member, and a conical or semi-spherical diaphragm fastened to the circular magnetic member. When the winding is energised, the diaphragm is vibrated to produce sound. Because this structure of speaker has only one voice coil, the vibration of the diaphragm is less stable, and distortion tends to occur during the operation of the speaker. Because different frequencies are driven to produce sound at different points, the performance of the sound effect of the speaker is unfavourably affected.
Furthermore, the conical or semi-spherical diaphragm needs much installation space, thereby preventing the size of the speaker from being reduced to the desired level.
The present invention aims to provide a flat type loud-speaker which eliminates the aforesaid drawbacks. It is a particular aim of the present invention to provide a flat type loud-speaker which uses multiple voice coils to improve performance.
A further aim of the present invention is to provide a flat type loud-speaker which uses multiple magnetic hysteresis loops to achieve high performance. It is still another aim of the present invention to provide a flat type loud-speaker which achieves a satisfactory sound effect by enabling sound sources of different frequencies to be produced at one point. It is a still further aim of the present invention to provide a flat type loud-speaker which has a flat configuration that needs less installation space.
Accordingly, the present invention provides a flat type loud-speaker comprising a substantially rectangular iron plate, a plurality of elongated magnets arranged substantially in parallel on said iron plate, a diaphragm press-formed subject to the configuration of said magnets and mounted on said iron plate over each of said magnets, and a winding wound on said diaphragm round each of said magnets, forming multiple voice coils.
Preferably, two conductor terminals are mounted on the iron plate at the middle near two opposite lateral sides thereof and are respectively connected to two opposite ends of said winding for electric power input.
The diaphragm desirably defines a plurality of substantially parallel receiving chambers for receiving the magnets.
The invention will now be described in detail, by way of example, with reference to the drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of one embodiment of a flat type loud-speaker according to the present invention;
Fig. 2 is an exploded perspective view of the flat type loud-speaker shown in Fig.
1;
Fig. 3 is a plan view to an enlarged scale of the flat type loud-speaker shown in
Figs. 1 and 2;
Fig. 4 is a vertical section to an enlarged scale through the flat type loud-speaker shown in Fig. 1;
Fig. 5 illustrates the operation of the flat type loud-speaker according to the present invention; and
Fig. 6 shows a flat type loud-speaker according to the present invention installed in a flat cabinet.
Referring to Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings, a flat type loud speaker according to the invention comprises a rectangular iron plate 1 on which two conductor terminals 11 and 12 are disposed on its upper face at the middle of opposing sides.
A plurality of elongated magnets 13 are arranged in a parallel manner on the upper face of the rectangular iron plate 1 between the conductor terminals 11 and 12. A diaphragm 14 is placed on the iron plate 1 over the magnets 13. The diaphragm 14 is press-formed subject to the configuration of the magnets 13. A winding 15 is wound on the diaphragm 14 round the magnets 13 in clockwise and counterclockwise directions and connected between the conductor terminals 11 and 12, forming multiple voice coils. When electric current is connected to the conductor terminals 11 and 12, the diaphragm 14 is vibrated to produce sound.
Referring to Figs. 3 and 4, the elongated magnets 13 are equally spaced on the upper face of the iron plate 1. The diaphragm 14 defines a plurality of parallel bottom receiving chambers which receive the magnets 13 respectively and the winding 15 is wound on the protruding portions of the diaphragm 14 around each magnet 13. This arrangement forms a flat type loud-speaker having multiple voice coils, that are arranged in parallel.
Referring to Fig. 5, when the loudspeaker is in use, electric current is connected to the winding 15 to magnetise the magnets 13, causing the diaphragm 14 to vibrate and to produce sound.
Referring to Fig. 6, the flat type loud-speaker thus obtained from the aforesaid arrangement can be installed in a flat cabinet 2.
While only one embodiment of the present invention has been shown and described, it will be understood that various modifications and changes could be made thereunto without departing from the scope of the invention.
