Abstract

The bicycle or motorcycle has a frame which is supported by two wheels with tyres 11; an intermediate wheel 10 powers the front wheel as it is turned by the back wheel driven by the power source. The vehicle direction is determined by turning the handlebars, bearings on the intermediate wheel allowing easy steering whilst producing two wheel drive.

Description

2 X 2 WHEEL-DRIVE BIKE This invention relates to a two wheel drive bike.
Common bike machines are well known the vehicle comprises of two wheels, a chassis and an engine powered by legs, petrol or electric. The front wheel is idle other than to determine the vehicals direction.
Bikes are, however, relatively dangerous. Moreover when they are in use in wet or rough terrain conditions due to the fact that the front wheel is powerless.
According to the present invention there is provided a powered back and front wheel, an intermediate wheel touching both wheels acts as a cog keeping both wheels at constant speeds.
Circlear shaped tyres provide better grip and stability + enable two wheel drive when front is turned to determine vehicles direction.
[Example] A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 Shows in perspective vehical design, enfacise on wider, rounder tyres and showing location of intermediate wheel.
Figure 2 Shows location of intermediate wheel side on.
Figure 3 Design of intermediate incorporated with regular bike design.
Figure 4 Shows one of many bearings half buried in intermediate wheel.
Figure 5 Shows Intermediate wheel in use on motor-bike design. Wheel surrounding entire engine.
Figure 6 Birds eye view of design turning to determine direction of vehicle.
Figure 7 Skeleton design of intermediate wheel inbetween the two tyres.
Figure 8 Modified crank shaft.
Referring to the drawings as shown in figure 1, the bike comprises a wheeled chassis (12) with wider wheel (11) and crank (14) joints than you find on a regular bike. Both wheels (11) turn at constant speeds, due to an intermediate wheel (10) that is a powerless cog (10) powered by the back wheel (11) and crank (14) as you will find on all bikes. See figure 3.
In order to direct the vihicles direction whilst maintaining 2 X 2 wheel drive, small Bearings as shown in figure 4 (13) are all around the intermediate wheel cog (10) thus allowing the front wheel (11) to turn from left to right.
Inside the intermediate cog wheel (10) figure 7 there is bearings (15) to turn the divise freely Figure 5 is an example ofthem inuse when for instance (16) a petrol engine is in use taking up the majority of the space inbetween the two wheels (11), The cog wheel (10) spins around the engine (16) contacting both wheels successfully on pedal bikes when leg power is in use the axes joint for the crank (14) is different to the axes of the cog intermediate wheel (10) so bearings (15) will be use with modified crank (14) shaft (16) Figure 8.

Claims (6)

  1. CLAIMS 1. A two-wheel drive bike both wheels kept at the same speed by an intermediate cog wheel inbetween both tyred wheels on the ground.
  2. 2. A bike as claimed in claim 1 that produces adequate traction to the ground through both front and back wheels, front wheels produces a pulling action and back wheel pushing.
  3. 3. Modified frame and axles on bike frame as in use in claim 1 and 2.
  4. 4. (CIRCLER Rounded widened tyres) for two wheel drive around corners when vehical changes direction as in use on claim 1,2,
  5. 5. The intermediate cog wheel with bearings inbetween wheels on ground as in use in claim 1, 2 and with 3,4.
  6. 6. Modified wheels used in claim 1,2,3,4,5 Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows Claims I A two wheel-drive bike both wheels kept at the same speed by an intermediate cog wheel in between both tyred wheels on the ground. It is in contact with the wheels by use of a tooth bearing system. The intermediate wheel contacts both wheels, engaging and powering them.
2 The bike as in use in claim 1, has a modified frame and axles on bike frame.
The frame is different due to the fact it has been modified to accommodate the intermediate wheel. The axles have been widened in direct proportion to a standard bike-to accommodate the wheels which have also been widened in proportion to that of a standard bike.
3 (Rounded widened tyres) For two wheel drive around comers when vehicle changes direction as in use in claims 1 and 2. The wheels have been widened in proportion to those of a standard bike. There will be no noticeable difference in actual roundness of the tyre, but they will be moulded and made so that they are more spherical than those of a standard bike, so that the front wheel will remain in contact with the intermediate wheel when changing direction.
4 The intermediate cog wheel with bearings, which are located on the outside surface of the intermediate wheel and are in contact with the wheels, in between the wheels that are on the ground as in use in claims 1, 2,3 and 4. It is in contact with the wheels by use of a tooth bearing system.
