Abstract
A nail for wood has a blunt end instead of a sharp point. The blunt end compresses the wood fibres in front of it as it is driven in, instead of exerting a wedging action as is the case with a sharp point. The reduces the possibility of the wood splitting.
Description
Snubnail
This invention relates to a device that enables wooden components to be nailed together or to other materials without the wood or material splitting.
According to the present invention there is a nail of any particular size for any particular work that is manufactured without a full point.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 (sheet 5) shows in perspective a proposed snub nail.
Referring to the drawing page 5 Figure 1 the snub nail comprises a standard type alloy nail of any type, size or cross section that has been manufactured without a full point or has had the point removed after manufacture.
Claims (1)
- Claims The snub nail can be used to join together wood, wooden components or derivatives without splitting occuring, this happens because the wedge type action of a totally pointed nail has been removed so instead of the fibres being wedged apart the flattened end crushes the fibres in front of it.
