Abstract
The comb has relatively widely spaced teeth 2 and the head 1 is filled with silicon gel 4 which acts as heat retaining fluid. The comb is heated by placing in a microwave oven, by mains electricity or by batteries in the handle 3. Cordless mains operation is possible using a base (4, Fig 5) connected to the mains and having a socket into which the handle 3 can be plugged.
Description
THE HOT COMB (Technical field) This in\ention rciates to a lleatabic comb.
(Background) Hair combs are everyday items. The Hot Comb is a heatable. comb which once heated to
a specified temperature. enhances the effectiveness of all hair care conditioning products
which are applied to wet hair.
The Hot Comb can be heated by a variety of methods i. e. microwave oven Fig I. electrically Figs 4. 3 & 8 or by batteries Fig 6.
(Essential The Hot Comb is of a conventional design i. e. with mblxr handle 3 and widely spaced technical teeth 2 to avoid damage to the liair cuticle wlien at it's iiiost vulnerable i. e. wlien wet. features) Such spacing of the teeth also allow hair to pass through with ease.
The Hot Comb can be placed in a microwave oven and heated to around 60F Fig 1. 2 & 3.
This causes the silicon based gel contained within the comb 4 to maintain the
licat required.
Used on wet, preconditioned hair, the heat generated win encourage the hair cuticte to swell-up and absorb the conditioner, allowing the conditioner to have maximum
effectiveness. The combing action encourages the cuticle's outer layers to lay flat and
smooth, causing the hair to take on a translucent effect. This process encourages body
and shine.
The Hot comb may be heated via an electrical circuit Figs 4, 5, 6 & 8. A detachable comb
Fig 4 with base Fig 5, allows an alternative heating method. When mate 7 and female 5 electrical components are attached an electrical circuit is created via the mains 13. On
reaching the desired heat the comb can be detached from it's base 8 and used on clean preconditioned flair.
Thc Hot Comb can be heated directly from the mains Fig 8. On reaching the dcsircd heat the comb can be used on clean preconditioned liair.
Alternatively. the Hot Comb can be heatcd by batteries Fig G. By inserting batteries into
I land closing the battery compartment 10. a circuit can be created bv an On/Off switch Fig 6.
